Who attends our language courses?

One of the things that I love most about this job is the range of people we get to speak with. This morning I spoke with a 16 year old girl who wanted to take a summer course in France, and the next phone call was from an 80 year old gentleman who wants to take an Italian Club 50+ course in the autumn! We really do offer courses suitable for everyone!

Most of our students tend to be aged 20-30 years old, but this varies from location to location and also depends on the time of year (during the summer months the average age drops slightly).

Our students come from all walks of life – some will be attending a course to help prepare for an exam in their home country, whilst some will need to study business terms to learn the language for their work. However, in most cases people learn for their own enjoyment, just for the pure thrill of improving themselves and learning a new skill (all while taking a holiday!)

Regular courses are offered year-round, whereas our age restricted courses (either for children, teenagers or senior learners) usually take place on specific start dates. It is possible to check all these by using our ‘Find a Course’ search tool on our website here: www.applelanguages.com/en/book/prices.php

One of the most common questions we get asked is “I don’t have anyone to go with and will be travelling alone, is this okay?” The answer is yes! The majority of people attending a language course will be travelling as individuals. A few will be attending the course with a friend, family member or partner, but this isn’t the ‘norm’. A language learning trip is the perfect holiday for the single traveller!

Another issue I often hear is: “I’m not sure of my level”. As long as you are not a complete beginner your exact level is not really an issue since the school will give you a placement test to make sure you are placed in the correct group. If you are a complete beginner you will just need to choose a start suitable for beginners.

You can learn more about the different levels of study on the following page of our website: www.applelanguages.com/en/about/levels.php

So… if you’ve ever fancied learning a language and you’re not quite sure what to expect please do not hesitate to call us or email! Our friendly team of language travel advisors are very experienced and will be happy to answer any questions you might have, big or small. The nice thing is that many of us have visited our school locations and can give advice from a first-hand perspective.

We look forward to hearing from you!
