Seville, one of Spain’s most influential cities!

Andalucía is Spain’s most visited region, thanks to the beauty of Granada, Cordoba and Seville. The latter is Andalucia’s capital city, and showcases an impressively rich historic and cultural heritage. With over 700,000 inhabitants, Seville is situated at the heart of a very fertile area, made easily accessible thanks to countless routes (maritime especially), that is why the Andalucian city has become the region’s cultural, political and economic capital. It is naturally now one of Spain’s most influential cities! Check out the video below by the Seville tourism board:

The video showcases all the great parts of a sunny journey through Seville. Starting with a view of the superb Giralda, a beautiful bell tower of the Cathedral of Seville, originally built as a minaret. The whole site is now registered as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO!

The video then takes you to the fabulous Plaza de Espana (Spain Square), built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. This jewel is a model of the Renaissance Revival style in Spanish architecture and combines Art Déco and Neo-Mudéjar styles in a perfectly harmonious manner.

The Alcazar of Seville is also an example of refinement not only from inside, but also from outside: this palace has been hosting Spain’s royal family for 7 centuries, and is surrounded by verdant gardens, all protected by impressive fortifications.

Also present is a view of the Torre del Oro (Gold Tower), which is a military watchtower constructed in the 13th century. Although the following name will not be easy for everyone to remember, visiting the ‘Plaza de toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla’ is an unforgettable visit, absolutely worthwhile: this is actually the world’s oldest bullring, and hosts the famous Feria de Abril!

Seville has the privilege of having magnificent bridges, allowing the sevillanos to cross over the beautiful Guadalquivir River: the Puente del Alamillo and the Puente Triana are especially aesthetically pleasing urban solutions.

Finally, History and Architecture enthusiasts will be pleased to see in the video the presence of a Museum of Fine Arts, as well as an opera: Seville is recognised as a dynamic cultural city, and during any visit you will soon see this yourself!

Well, needless to say, Seville is an endlessly charming city! Come and learn Spanish in Seville with Apple Language Courses! Vamos!
