Cookery Course in San Sebastian

Spanish & Cookery Course in San Sebastian

The Basque country is renowned for its cuisine, so it’s no coincidence that San Sebastian has the highest concentration of Michelin-starred restaurants anywhere in the world! Visit the local market, and you’ll see the city’s top chefs doing their own shopping for the day… fish, beans, beef, chestnuts, honey and almonds… you name it, San Sebastian has it! Basque cuisine is an important part of the Basque cultural identity, and traditional recipes are kept alive in kitchens right across the region. Whilst you’re there, don’t forget to try pintxos, the delicious Basque equivalent of tapas!

Cookery course

Our Spanish & cookery course in San Sebastian takes place during Wednesday evenings, throughout the year. During this special cookery course, which lasts a minimum of 3 hours, you will get to discover the culture and history of gastronomy in the Basque region. You will then learn how to prepare a typical Basque first course, second course and dessert or take on the delights of a delicious 'pintxo' menu. Pintxo is the Basque word for the Spanish 'Pincho', which is similar to what you might call tapas, just don't ever call it that whilst in San Sebastian! You will of course learn a lot more new vocabulary including items in the kitchen and cooking in general.

After your cookery class, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the food you’ve prepared with a glass of good Spanish wine or cider. Please note that this course should be taken in conjunction with an Intensive Spanish Course. All recipes are given to you at the end of the evening.
