Be sure to bring a camera if you take a French course in Lausanne! Built on three hills overlooking magnificent Lake Geneva, Lausanne is one of Switzerland’s most picturesque cities, lauded by such luminaries as Victor Hugo and Voltaire. For a breathtaking panorama of the medieval old town, the lake and the gargantuan Alps beyond, climb one of the towers of the stunning Gothic Cathedral.
Hiding in the historic buildings of the old town are many museums and art galleries, showcasing everything from photography to the history of the Olympic Games. Many exhibitions and cultural events also take place in Ouchy, a scenic former fishing village, which is now part of Lausanne. From the shimmering marina here, you can take a boat trip across the lake to Geneva, one of Europe’s most cosmopolitan cities. If you study during the winter, you can also enjoy the amazing ski slopes nearby!

Lausanne’s incredible Cathedral is just a short walk away from our French language school. The school shares a building with shops, banks, a cafeteria and even a gym! Our school has 10 modern classrooms, common rooms, a multimedia library and free Wi-Fi Internet access. There’s no better place to learn French in Lausanne!
Courses
As at all of our language schools, teachers at our Lausanne school are all native speakers, with many years of experience in teaching. The Standard French course in Lausanne consists of 20 classes per week, all in the morning, leaving you with the afternoons free to explore Switzerland! If you’d like to make even more rapid progress, our school offers an Intensive course of 25 French lessons per week.
You can supplement either of these courses with customised Private Lessons, which allow you to benefit from the undivided attention of our expert teachers. Our school also runs a course in Business French, as well as a DELF Exam Preparation course.

Accommodation
The best way to totally immerse yourself in the French language is by living with French-speakers! With this in mind, our school goes to great lengths to organise accommodation for you with friendly host families, who’ll speak French with you at every available opportunity. You can choose to have your own private bathroom, or you can share one with your hosts. Host family accommodation is available on a half board (two meals per day) or bed & breakfast basis.
Activities
Our school in Lausanne organises a whole range of different activities to run alongside your French course. You can participate in many activities free of charge, whereas others carry an additional cost. Typical activities include guided tours of the city, French film evenings, picnics, hiking and fondue evenings.
At the weekends, half and full trips are arranged, introducing you to more of this magnificent country! Excursions vary from month to month, but there are often trips to local vineyards, the medieval town of Gruyères, and the Alps, as well as days spent skiing. Whatever you do, you’re sure to have a great time discovering Switzerland, practicing your French and getting to know classmates!
