Program includes:
- 15, 16 or 20 French lessons per week.
- You can also choose to have afternoon surfing or body-boarding classes as well, weather permitting. Biarritz is a surfer’s paradise, with some of the best surfing conditions in Europe and a longstanding surfing culture. Even if you don’t want to try surfing, the scenic town of Biarritz has much to offer - glorious sandy beaches, historic buildings and a museum of chocolate!
- At least four afternoon activities a week (if you don’t choose surfing or body-boarding lessons). There are a great variety of sporting and cultural activities on offer
- Half-day and full-day excursions, designed to give you a flavour of the region. Visit the Basque country, Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Spain, amongst other beautiful locations!
- Accommodation with friendly French host families or at our well-equipped student residence. Opt for two or three meals a day on this French summer course in Biarritz

Location
Just over 10 miles from the Spanish border sits the picturesque French town of Biarritz, famous for its beautiful beaches, world-class surf and elegant buildings. Queen Victoria liked Biarritz so much that she returned again and again, staying in the sumptuous palace built by Empress Eugenie, which is now a lavish hotel. You’ll never be bored in Biarritz! The town boasts excellent sporting amenities, including golf, mini-golf, tennis, beach volleyball, and go-karting (15 years plus) facilities. You can even go horseback riding or try the local favourite - pétanque.
Our school in Biarritz is located not far from the sea, and the town centre. Shops, cafés and stunning beaches are within easy reach! Most of the spacious classrooms have audio-visual equipment, making it easier for you to learn French. You can also use the free Internet access to aid your studies.
CourseDepending on how intensive you’d like your French summer course in Biarritz to be, you can have 15, 16 or 20 French lessons every week. Lessons run in the mornings, Monday to Friday. Only native French teachers, with years of experience, teach at our school. There will never be more than 15 young students in a class, and classes are composed of different nationalities. You’ll learn about classmates’ cultures and the only language spoken in class and by the activities organizers will be French, so you’ll get plenty of French practice!
Accommodation
a) Host family:
Our school carefully vets prospective host families, selecting only the best families with the best accommodation. Your French host family will welcome you into their home and provide you with breakfast and an evening meal. Packed lunches are extra. You’ll share a room with another student from the school, of the same gender as yourself. Where possible, the school will place you with a student from a different country, encouraging you to use your French language skills as much as possible!
b) Residence:
You’ll also benefit from a rich mixture of nationalities if you choose to live in our modern student residence. By bus, the residence is just 20 minutes away from Biarritz town centre and the beach. A 20-minute walk will get you to the school. You’ll share an en-suite room with three or four of your fellow students, of the same gender and around the same age as yourself. Socialize with the other students in the refectory, over a game
ActivitiesTaking advantage of Biarritz’s fine sporting facilities and warm summers, the school’s afternoon activities program gives you the chance to try a variety of sports. If you want to try surfing or body-boarding, you can take lessons from professional instructors once your French classes are finished for the day.
Cultural activities and excursions are also on the agenda. Visit places like the charming fishing town of Saint-Jean-de-Luz or the vibrant city of San Sebastián, across the border in Spain.
TransfersTransfers are not included, but for an extra fee, either your host family or our school’s ‘meet and greet’ staff will collect you from the airport or train station.
