Location
Hohensolms Castle, housing both our school and accommodation, is situated in the small, welcoming town of Lahn-Dill-Bergland, near Frankfurt. Throughout its long history, the castle has existed in many incarnations - royal home, defensive stronghold and, most recently, youth hostel.
The castle is a wonderful setting for German lessons, and also boasts great facilities, including computers with free Internet access, its own swimming pool and sporting facilities, amongst other amenities.
CourseStudents on this German course for Young Students have 24 classes every week, each lasting 45 minutes. They receive expert tuition from our experienced, native teachers. Small classes of 15 students or below are formed according to their level of German, which is determined by a test at the start of the course. Anybody with at least a basic level of German can join the course, and will make rapid progress with their language skills!
Accommodation
Children on the language program will share large rooms with up to six other students, all of the same gender. Each floor has its own showers and bathrooms. Sharing accommodation with international students, children will be constantly using and improving their common language - German!
Having German lessons and living on the same site is not only greatly convenient for students, but also means that our school can monitor their safety more closely.
Level of supervisionOur school has a dedicated team of carers to provide constant supervision of students, both at the residence and whilst they are taking part in activities or out on excursions.
ActivitiesStudents can take part in a wide range of activities after their German lessons. Taking advantage of mild German summers, sports on offer include football, swimming, canoeing, archery and mini-golf. The school organizes barbecues, discos and theater workshops, giving students further opportunity to make friends and speak to each other in German, and students are always welcome to use the computers at the school.
Excursions to nearby sights, cities and towns are arranged for the weekends, lasting for half a day or an entire day, with all entrance fees and travels costs included. Students can see the historical city of Cologne, the bustling financial capital, Frankfurt, and other parts of Germany. Half-day activities include an outing to fascinating crystal caves, and a trip down into the subterranean world of a mine!
TransfersTransfers are extra, but our school can collect students from Frankfurt airport if requested.
