Spanish courses for Young Students

We offer a wide choice of Spanish language programmes in a special selection of our top schools throughout the Spanish speaking world, especially designed with children and teenagers in mind. Each programme is geared towards students of a specific age group, offering a fantastic opportunity for a Spanish learning holiday in a safe and secure international environment, together with a unique timetable of fully supervised cultural and social activities.

Many of the courses take place during the summer months and are an ideal option for young students who are looking to spend their summer holiday improving their Spanish skills, developing their personal skills, making international friends and experiencing a new country and culture!

All of the programmes combine Spanish language classes for kids and for young adults, with a varied and exciting programme of social and cultural activities in a fun, international and inspiring environment. Accommodation is included with each programme, either with carefully selected, native Spanish host families, or in the school's residence buildings and there is full supervision or 24-hour support, ensuring the welfare and wellbeing of every young learner.

Our Young Students can choose a Spanish programme in the larger and livelier cosmopolitan cities of Barcelona or Valencia, enjoy the classes and beach-side activities in a smaller coastal resort, such as Tarragona, Marbella, Tarifa and San Sebastian, or dive into inland Spain by choosing the beautiful, historic town of Salamanca or Seville. We also offer a special Young Students' programme on the stunning and popular island of Ibiza, or in the breathtaking hill-top white village of Vejer de La Frontera, in Andalusia.

Suitability

Our summer Spanish programmes in Spain give children and young adults the ideal chance to improve their language skills with high quality tuition, in a stimulating and inspiring environment. International students of the same age can enjoy an unforgettable holiday, in a home-away-from-home, where the safety and welfare of each and every individual is a top priority.

These courses are ideal for kids and teenagers who are also looking to develop their interpersonal skills, experience daily life in Spain, gain in confidence and have a thoroughly enjoyable, action- packed and fun holiday, whilst making new friends from all corners of the world!

Courses

The young learners' needs, interests and concerns are placed at the heart of the teaching, whilst a team of highly qualified and experienced teachers aim to bring interesting and dynamic Spanish classes to youngsters of a specific age group. The tailor-made programmes normally consist of between 15 and 20 Spanish lessons each week, in groups of around 10 to 15 students maximum.

The teaching methods are communicative, with an emphasis on helping the students to gain in confidence and to use their Spanish skills in all types of situations, regardless of their language level. The majority of the programmes require that the children or teenagers have already taken one or two years of Spanish in school, prior to attending the summer course, however, we also offer several programmes where complete beginners are also more than welcome.

The students will study Spanish in classes together with other international students from all over the world, increasing their inter-cultural knowledge and skills and making many new friends at the same time. There is a level placement test on arrival, to ensure that all students are placed in the correct class with others of a similar language ability and all participants will also receive a course certificate at the end of the programme.

Accommodation

We recognise the importance of accommodation when young students are staying away from home, perhaps for the first time in their lives and we have therefore selected schools which offer high standards of quality accommodation in a welcoming, safe and relaxed environment.

Most of our students travel alone and we therefore want all participants to experience a comfortable ¨home-away-from-home¨, whether it is with a native Spanish host family, or in the school's own residence building. Some of the programmes offer a choice between these two alternatives and there are single and shared rooms, depending on the location and the size of the school.

In a selection of our Spanish locations, such as in Ibiza, in Malaga there is also the possibility for older students, aged 16 and above, to stay in self-catering, shared student apartments, where they are responsible for cooking their own meals, either individually or together and sharing the common areas. However, most of the Spanish Summer Programmes for kids and teens provide accommodation on a full-board basis, meaning that three meals per day are included in the cost of the course. On days where there are visits and excursions arranged, then the children will received a packed lunch for their midday meal. Please ensure that you mention any special dietary or medical requirements at the time of your booking.

A total immersion experience is possible when students are living with a Spanish host family, as they will have the chance to practise their Spanish every day with their hosts and many students are able to make faster progress with their Spanish as a result. Many of the programmes are located in college campuses and in private buildings with their own grounds and own residential accommodation options. In these cases students normally share twin rooms, with shared bathroom and common areas and make many international friends in a very short time. The school's residence dormitories always have 24-hour security and a member of the school staff is on hand to offer support and supervision at all times.

Activities

The main feature of our Spanish Programmes for Young Students is the balance that we offer between high quality Spanish language tuition, provided by a team of professional and enthusiastic teachers and an enjoyable, tailor-made social and cultural activities programme, geared to children or young adults of a very specific age group. This combination often provides a once in a lifetime opportunity and holiday, with the chance for all participants to develop their confidence, to enjoy independence away from home, to learn about Spain and the Spanish culture and to make many international friends in a safe and friendly environment.

The Spanish lessons are often scheduled in the mornings, with a full programme of activities in the afternoons and evenings. All activities, sports, visits and excursions are supervised by a teacher, coordinator or member of the school staff. Most of the summer courses include daily activities, all of which are conducted in Spanish, encouraging the students to use their language skills as much as possible during their stay.

There are often guided orientation tours of the town or city, welcome parties, theme evenings, afternoons at the beach, arts and crafts workshops, talent shows, games in the park, film nights and a huge variety of sports and tournaments. There are 1 or 2 full-day excursions included with every 2-week Spanish course and many smaller outings and visits, where the students will have a chance to discover nearby tourist attractions, water parks, towns, castles, beaches and other places of interest. The activities programme is normally a compulsory part of the course and younger students are not permitted to leave the group or the campus grounds, unless accompanied by a member of staff, or unless parental permission is provided in advance (free time is often scheduled for our older students above 16 years of age).

If you are looking to improve your Spanish language skills in an exciting and inspiring international atmosphere, where you can take part in a huge variety of extra-curricular activities, visits and excursions with other students of a similar age, then we are confident that we offer a programme that you will love. Please do not hesitate to contact us for further details and with any specific queries.

Transfers

Some of the summer programmes include an airport transfer service on arrival and departure, where students will be met at the airport and taken directly to their accommodation. In many locations, however, this is provided for an additional fee.

Students aged 16 to 18 years

If you are between 16 and 18 years of age and you would prefer to have more independence and an increased amount of free-time during your Spanish course in Spain, then you can choose to attend one of our special adult language programmes.
