Are you aged between 13-17 years and want to learn Spanish during the summer? Then there is no more exciting a location than Barcelona! Its location on the Costa Brava means that Barcelona not only offers all the attractions of a big city, but also has some spectacular beaches. A city famous for its rich, cultural heritage, Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia and is steeped in history. From the medieval in the Gothic Quarter to the modernista style of Gaudi, Barcelona is home to some of the most stunning architecture in Spain.
Barcelona is a fantastic location in which to spend your summer holidays, as although it is normally hot and sunny, the cool sea breezes do mean that summers are pleasant. There are plenty of things to see and do whilst in Barcelona, from shopping on La Rambla to visiting one of the many world-class museums. There are also some stunning parks and green spaces, as well as the beautiful marina (where you are sure to see some truly impressive yachts).
Our teenager Spanish course in Barcelona normally takes place in the school residence, or in the building next door. The location is very central, at the crossroads of Passeig de Gracia and Diagonal, two popular and central roads in Barcelona. This means that not only will you have Las Ramblas on your doorstep, but there is also easy access to the rest of the city and beaches by public transport.
Courses in Barcelona
This programme is suitable for students with at least an ‘elementary’ level of Spanish. On the morning of your first day at the school you will take a level test, to make sure that you are placed in the most suitable group, with students of a similar level to yourself. As far as possible our Spanish school will do their best to mix the nationalities in classes. However, as the courses we offer are total immersion courses, you can be sure that the only language spoken in class will be Spanish! This will help you to make the maximum amount of progress possible and will also increase your confidence in speaking the language.
The course consists of 20 group lessons per week. Each Spanish lesson lasts 45 minutes and you will usually have 4 lessons per day, from Monday to Friday.
All course materials are included in the price.
Choose between student residence and host family accommodation for your stay in Barcelona! Whichever option you choose, you will stay in a shared room, on a full-board basis.
Host family accommodation is a great option for students of your age, as it allows you to practice speaking Spanish on an everyday basis, with native speakers in a supportive, family environment. You will stay in a shared room (twin or triple) and will be able to travel to school with your room mate(s). You are likely to need to use public transport to reach the school from your accommodation, although a local bus pass is included in the course price. The average journey is 30 minutes; and the maximum journey time is 45 minutes.
Student residence accommodation is offered in rooms of 4-6 beds with an en-suite bathroom. All rooms are air-conditioned and some even offer balconies with a beautiful view over the city. The residence could not be more conveniently located at the crossroads of two of Barcelona’s most important roads, Passeig de Gracia and Diagonal. Your Spanish lessons will either take place in the residence or in the building next door.
This programme has been specially designed for students of your age and, therefore, offers a high level of supervision. You will be supervised whilst in lessons, on activities and in your accommodation. If you stay with a host family, you will be expected to make your own way to and from the school, although your hosts will ensure you understand the way and you will normally be able to travel with your room mate(s).
Activities will be offered on a daily basis on this programme and all will be fully-supervised. The exact programme will vary slightly from week to week, but, to give you an idea, some examples of typical activities include: a guided walk of the city; beach games; workshops (arts and crafts, dance, etc.); welcome parties; tapas tours; jazz evening; bowling; and excursions to local places of interest such as Sitges and Montserrat.
If you are aged 13-17 years and wish to improve your Spanish and make friends from all over the world in a stunning city on the coast, then this programme in Barcelona is perfect for you! Activities are arranged on a daily basis and you can choose between host family and residence accommodation.
