I decided Italy was definitely the destination as a bit of romance wouldn\u2019t go amiss either, but I was also determined to learn and experience something new this time round.<\/p>\n<p>Then I came across this great school on the internet in Sorrento, in the heart of the town near the Amalfi Coast. I had seen a romantic film \u2018Only You\u2019 about one woman\u2019s destiny to meet her future husband in Italy and in this film there was the beautiful Amalfi Coast, Positano etc. so I decided that this was the right place to be.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pic-box size-full wp-image-1126 alignleft\"  title=\"Sorrento\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.applelanguages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/12\/sorrento2.jpg\" width=\"250\" height=\"163\" \/>When I arrived, I was struck by the stunning beauty of this place. It really was like in the film. When I went into the Piazza Tasso and I saw all the people sitting in the open air \u2018people watching\u2019 I was amazed to discover that this was actually considered a pastime!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.applelanguages.com\/en\/learn\/italian\/italy\/sorrento.php\">The school<\/a> was fantastic and very professional. Put it this way, I know more than \u2018ciao\u2019 now! Also, we had excursions to Pompeii and Naples too, which really opened my mind and got the culture vulture out of me. The great thing was that I actually got the chance to make new friends and, instead of going out to eat alone as I always had done, I was able to go out to lunch and dinner and on weekends with my new group of friends, many of whom were single like me! We had a blast.<\/p>\n<p>Then, of course there were the men (still are, actually)! I must say that I appreciate the attention that Italian men give women. They are persistent, it\u2019s true, but they are equally charming and romantic, so who cares! I enjoyed it.
