We Germans, however, know that \u201cWestphalia\u2019s capital\u201d is well worth a visit!<\/p>\n<p>The University City combines the old and the new and is something for everyone who likes a city that is laid-back and safe, but at the same time very cultural and stylish.<\/p>\n<p>M\u00fcnster has always been one of Germany\u2019s most popular cities for students so it\u2019s no wonder that the city is also one of the youngest in terms of its population.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>You can meet lots of students, for example, in any of the bars that concentrate in the district of \u201cKuhviertel\u201d. Quaint bars such as Das Blaue Haus (the \u201cBlue House\u201d), <a href=\"http:\/\/muenster-cavete.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Cavete<\/a>\u00a0or the old brewery <a href=\"http:\/\/pinkus.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Pinkus M\u00fcller<\/a>\u00a0make this district a cool place to hang out in the evening or during the day. For a night out, you can then head on to the artists\u2019 quarter Hawerkamp \u2013 here, a very lively music and club scene has established itself and there will be something danceable for every taste!<\/p>\n<p>M\u00fcnster easily caters for those who prefer a somewhat more sophisticated environment. The city prides itself with a largely rebuilt historic town as well as countless churches and a dome which dominate the city\u2019s skyline. And, for those of you who have a sweet tooth, I can thoroughly recommend the city\u2019s oldest caf\u00e9 \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/grotemeyer.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Caf\u00e9 Grotemeyer<\/a>\u201d,\u00a0 founded in 1850 in the style of a Viennese coffee house. Finest marzipan art and fancy chocolates are their specialty, but if you are able to visit you should really try one of the amazing cakes&#8230; or maybe two? \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pic-box size-full wp-image-464 alignleft\" title=\"Munster\" src=\"https:\/\/www.applelanguages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/munster2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"170\" \/>One of many museums worth visiting is the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lwl.org\/LWL\/Kultur\/lwl-naturkunde\/english\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Museum of Natural History<\/a>,\u00a0which is located under one roof with a planetarium and the Westphalian State Museum. Right next to it you can find the local zoo and the reservoir Aasee \u2013 a nice place in the summer to have barbecues, go jogging or ride a pedalo. Speaking of modes of transportation: M\u00fcnster is famous for its many cyclists. The city is home to twice as many bicycles as people and is known as Germany\u2019s most cycle-friendly city.<\/p>\n<p>If I\u2019d ask my sister, who has been living in M\u00fcnster for ten years, what she likes best about this city, she\u2019d probably say: The bunnies. Every year in the spring, M\u00fcnster becomes a popular place for the common rabbit (you can even see them grazing by the busiest roundabouts)&#8230; I guess everyone has their own favourite thing, but all can agree that M\u00fcnster is a city with a high quality of life. In fact, at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.livcomawards.com\/previous-winners\/2004.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">LivCom Awards of 2004<\/a> it was even chosen as most liveable city worldwide!<\/p>\n<p>With such a good lifestyle and up to 20% of the population students, M\u00fcnster is an ideal location in which to learn German! Apple Languages offers German courses for students aged 16 years old and above (15 years old in the summer) in their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.applelanguages.com\/en\/learn\/german\/germany\/munster.php\">German language school<\/a> located right in the city centre!<\/p>\n<p><em>Johanna<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Compared to cities like Berlin or Munich, the German city of M\u00fcnster has certainly been more of an insider tip for tourists.
