\"\"Weihnachtsstollen <\/em>is a German type of fruit cake which is traditionally eaten during the Christmas season.<\/p>\n

Everyone in my family looks look forward to this delicious treat each year. Without Weihnachtsstollen <\/em>we would definitely miss out on something at Christmas.<\/p>\n

I would like to share our old family recipe with you. Make sure that you treat yourself with this absolute delight!<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Silesian Weihnachtsstollen<\/h3>\n

Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • 600g flour<\/li>\n
  • 2 cubes of fresh yeast (40g each) or 14g dried yeast<\/li>\n
  • 100g sugar<\/li>\n
  • 150g butter or margarine<\/li>\n
  • 200g raisins<\/li>\n
  • 100g candied lemon peel<\/li>\n
  • 100g candied orange peel<\/li>\n
  • 100g slivered almonds<\/li>\n
  • 16g vanilla sugar<\/li>\n
  • 2 egg yolks or 1 whole egg<\/li>\n
  • Juice of half a lemon<\/li>\n
  • 250 ml milk (lukewarm)<\/li>\n
  • Some rum to taste<\/li>\n
  • 1 package of marzipan mass<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Preparation:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Sieve the flour into a large bowl and make a well in the middle.<\/li>\n
    2. Crumble the yeast into the well and pour the lukewarm milk over it.<\/li>\n
    3. Add the sugar and powder the yeast with some of the flour in the bowl.<\/li>\n
    4. Leave the mixture to stand for approximately 15 minutes.<\/li>\n
    5. Add the remaining ingredients (except for the marzipan) to the bowl and knead the mixture to a dough. The dough should not be too firm.<\/li>\n
    6. Let the dough rise in a warm place until it has approximately doubled.<\/li>\n
    7. Form two cakes and fill them with marzipan. If the dough is too sticky you can add some more flour.<\/li>\n
    8. Preheat the oven to 175\u00b0C (fan oven) and bake the Weihnachtsstollen <\/em>for around half an hour. After a few minutes baking time make a 1 cm deep cut lengthwise.<\/li>\n
    9. To see if the cake is well baked put a little wooden stick into the centre. If there is no dough sticking to it the cake is ready.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
