English course for young students in Reading

Accommodation

All students will stay in the school’s residence accommodation. Although there are several residences, these are all located on the school’s private, secure campus. Members of staff will also stay in the residences, to ensure that students are safe, and also to be on hand should students have any questions, or require any assistance. Boys and girls are accommodated in separate areas. Bedrooms are mainly single or twin, although some larger rooms may be shared between 4 students.

This accommodation is offered on a full board basis, with all students taking all their meals in the school’s dining room. When on excursions, you will receive a packed lunch, and at night you will be provided with a snack, usually consisting of hot or cold milk, or other soft drink, with cake or cookies.

Supervision

This programme offers 24 hour supervision, with members of staff living on-site in order to provide this care. Students are not permitted to leave the campus unless accompanied by a member of staff. There are approximately eight students to every staff member.

Activities

You will have five daytime activities per week. These activities will either have a football or dance theme. If you choose the football option, each session will start with a warm-up. The rest of the session will then focus on the specific skill areas required for this sport. The dance option will mainly focus on modern jazz, although there will be other workshops such as Bollywood, English Country dancing, belly dancing, street dance, Capoeira, salsa, break-dancing and cheerleading. All students will also take part in evening activities. Examples of typical evening activities include sports such as swimming, tennis and cricket; arts and crafts such as clay modelling, mask painting and glass painting; and other activities such as conversation clubs, British quizzes and games nights.

The school also arranges two full-day excursions to places such as London (to see musicals/theatre productions, shopping in Covent Garden and Madame Tussauds), Canterbury and Leeds Castle, Brighton, Oxford and Blenheim Palace, and Warwick and Stratford.

Suitability

This course is suitable for students aged 12-16 years who want to combine their English course with an exciting activities programme offering a particular focus on football or dance. There is a high level of supervision on this programme, which takes place on a private, secure campus close to Reading.

How to get there

Airport transfers (both ways) are included for students arriving and departing from London Heathrow and Stansted Airports on Sundays (the arrival and departure day for this course).
