German Summer Course, Augsburg

(14-18)

Augsburg, 1 hour from Munich, has the advantages of being a modern university city whilst being one of Germany’s oldest towns. Our German Summer school provides a total immersion German program and is located in the city centre.

Our junior course in Augsburg is regretfully not available this summer. Please contact us for more information regarding any of our other German young student or adult language programmes.

Courses in Augsburg

There are 20 lessons each week and lessons take place in the morning on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (5 lessons per day). You will have a full-day excursion on Wednesday. All teachers are native speakers and fully qualified in the teaching of German as a foreign language. Lessons are interesting and lively, so that the German you learn can immediately be put to use in conversation.

Accommodation

Students are accommodated in twin rooms with German host families. This provides a complete immersion in the German language. Single rooms are available on request for an additional charge. Host families live within a maximum of 45 minutes by public transport and a local bus pass is included in the program.

Supervision

All sports and cultural activities are supervised by fully qualified staff and students are expected to take part in them. Students are allowed to go out during their free time with parental permission and we do ask all parents to complete a parental consent form giving their permission for students to go out.

Parents of students aged 14-16 years can choose to allow them to go out unaccompanied until 22.00. Students aged over 14 years are permitted to go off in pairs and small groups when on excursions at the discretion of the school staff.

Students aged 16-18 years are permitted to go out unaccompanied until 0.00.

Activities

Activities are offered four times per week, either in the afternoons or evenings, examples of which include bowling, basketball, football, boat trips etc. One full-day excursion is arranged on Wednesdays, usually to places such as Munich, Nuremberg or various Bavarian castles. There are no activities arranged for the weekend, which students can spend with their host families or their new friends from the school.

Suitability

This total immersion German course is ideal for students who wish to learn German whilst having a choice of Sports and Cultural activities. Students of all nationalities, all aged 14-18 years, attend this German program ensuring a real international mix.

How to get there

Host families can collect students from Augsburg Train Station on arrival, if arriving on the Sunday before their course starts. Optional airport transfers on arrival and departure from/to Munich airport are available for an additional charge.
