Terms and Conditions

Apple Languages is a trading name of Apple Language Courses Ltd.

Definitions

Apple Languages shall be referred to as AL from this point onwards.

When a client makes a reservation through Apple Languages, the contract is between Apple Language Courses Ltd and the client.

'The student' or 'client' is the person or persons in whose name the booking is made or on whose behalf the booking is made.

This Agreement

This agreement is legally binding once AL has received a completed enrolment form from the student, whether on-line or in writing and once the necessary payment has been received by the company and written confirmation sent to the student. If the booking is made by telephone, the agreement is legally binding once the booking details have been taken by AL and once the necessary payment has been received by the company and written confirmation sent to the student.

AL act as a booking agent for the relevant supplier of any language course or product that we sell.

This agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and the parties irrevocably submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts to settle any dispute which may arise in connection with this agreement.

Payment

Deposit of £200 / €250 / $350 is required for bookings made more than 6 weeks before the course is due to start. The remainder of the fees is due no later than 6 weeks before the start of the course.

You can book you course less than 6 weeks before you are due to start. In this case you will pay the deposit and then pay the balance as soon as your booking is confirmed by us.

If you book your course more than 6 weeks before your course is due to start and AL do not receive the balance of your fees 6 weeks before the start date of your course, AL may cancel the course (and accommodation) booked. The deposit is non-refundable and the cancellation fees given below apply.

Due to changes in currency rates, we may change our prices, if necessary. However, no change will be made to the price of a course once full payment has been made.

Charges are sometimes made for registration fees, course materials, examination fees and excursion/activity fees. Seasonal surcharges may also apply to certain courses or types of accommodation. Please contact us for details.

Courses

Classes at our partner schools run from Monday to Friday, starting on Mondays (except when Monday is a public holiday). Classes usually last between 45 and 60 minutes and the exact lesson length is given under each school's entry on our website and when using our price tool.

Most students, except complete beginners, will begin their course with a level assessment on the first Monday, after which they will be placed into a group suitable for their level. Some of our partner schools ask students to complete an online level test before they arrive.

If a student is unable to attend the course they have reserved because they are found not to have the appropriate language level after completing the initial level test, or there are insufficient students to make a group, the school may offer an alternative course, or private lessons. The number of lessons may be fewer than the group course booked.

Accommodation

Accommodation is usually allocated from the Sunday before a course starts until the Saturday after it finishes. Extra nights can be arranged according to availability and for an additional fee. There is normally a limit of 3 extra nights, after which an extra week price will be charged. Discounts can not be given to students spending less than 6 nights in their accommodation.

Shared apartments provide basic self-catering accommodation for students at the language school. Sometimes students will have the option of sharing with local people (this will be stated when applicable).

Studio Apartments are private, self-contained, fully-furnished apartments for one or two people.

Host Families are carefully chosen by our schools and can be a married couple or single person, with or without children. Families often offer the option of 'Bed and Breakfast' (often noted as B+B and means that breakfast is included in the price), half board (breakfast and dinner included) or full board (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).

School Residences can be big houses accommodating around 10-15 students or larger buildings housing hundreds of students. Residences often have a reception service and many offer accommodation on a bed and breakfast, half board and full board basis. They often also have catering facilities and other amenities, such as television rooms or internet cafes.

Twin rooms normally imply two students sharing a room, with two separate beds. Some schools only allow two students travelling together to share a room.

Please note that seasonal surcharges may apply to certain types of accommodation.

Changes to bookings by the student

Students may, at the discretion of AL, change details of their reservation, provided that AL receives written notice from the student at least 28 days before the start of the course. It is not possible to amend a course after the date on which a student is due to move into their accommodation or start their course.

Amendments are subject to a £35/ €50/ $50 charge.

Other changes to bookings

AL endeavours to ensure that our students receive the service and products that they book. We cannot, however, take responsibility for disruptions to study holidays resulting from forces out of our control (such as earthquakes, other natural disasters, strikes, or the breakout of war), the fault of the student, or the actions of a third party (AL cannot accept responsibility for amendments to bookings, such as changes in arrangements for transport, tuition, accommodation, insurance or any other matters, where made by other parties).

Lessons lost as a result of the above causes will not be recovered or refunds given.

Special Offers

Please note that all special offers have a limited number of places and are subject to availability.

Missed lessons and activities

There will be no classes on public holidays. Therefore, if a public holiday falls on a day or days during which a student is attending a course, they can expect to not receive lessons on that day. We have tried to indicate in our price lists the days on which public holidays fall. However, the public holiday dates that we provide in our literature and websites are subject to alteration by national and local authorities and should only be used as a guide.

Lessons may be missed due to level testing and initiation activities on the first day of a course. In some schools, only the first lesson will be lost and in others a large part of the day may be dedicated to welcome activities. Lessons may also be lost at the end of a course due to evaluation tests.

There will be no recuperation or refund of classes missed for the above reasons, unless otherwise stated.

Activities and Excursions

Information about activities and excursions offered at our schools should only be used as a guide and not as an accurate list of events. Activities and excursions may be subject to a minimum number of participants. Please contact us prior to booking if you require specific information about any of our activities.

Cancellation by the Student

If this agreement is cancelled by a student, the following provisions apply:

Cancellation must be made in writing to the AL office. The day that notification is received in writing by the AL office is the official cancellation day and the cancellation provisions laid out below will apply.

All cancellations incur a loss of deposit. In addition, the following charges apply and are payable to AL by the student:

  • Cancellation up to 84 days before the start of the course: loss of deposit only.
  • Cancellation between 83 and up to 56 days before the start of the course: 10% of the remaining cost of the course and accommodation.
  • Cancellation between 55 and 28 days before the start of the course: 25% of the remaining cost of the course and accommodation.
  • Cancellation between 27 and 14 days before the start of the course: 50% of the remaining cost of the course and accommodation.
  • Cancellation between 0 and 13 days before the start of the course: 100% of the remaining cost of the course and accommodation.
  • No refund shall be given after the day of departure or start of the course.

If a new booking is made in place of the cancelled course, AL may, at their sole discretion, withdraw certain cancellation charges.

Travel, Transfers and Visas

Our prices do not include flights or other transport to our schools. Students must make their own travel arrangements and are responsible for obtaining all necessary travel documents, such as a valid passport and visa. We will, of course, be pleased to provide students with detailed advice on the best route to our schools.

However, we do offer airport transfers in most locations, for an extra fee. We must receive full flight details at least 7 days before students are due to arrive in their country of choice.

AL will supply the necessary documentation for students to obtain a visa, but are not responsible for a Consular authority's decision whether or not to issue a visa. It is the student's responsibility to allow sufficient time to obtain a visa and they should check with the Consular authority regarding how long this is likely to take.

Complaints

If students feel they have genuine reason for complaint, they should mention this to the school abroad and to AL as soon as possible. We will then respond to all reasonable complaints and we will do all we can to resolve any problems. We will not, unfortunately, be able to respond to complaints made to AL after the student has finished their course, unless the school and AL were notified of this complaint whilst the student was still attending the course and reasonable opportunity was given to the school and AL to respond to this complaint whilst the student was still attending the course.

Our expectations

Students, and those accompanying students, are expected to behave in a courteous manner and to respect fellow students and staff at our schools. The illegal use of drugs, alcohol abuse and inconsiderate behaviour is considered unacceptable. AL reserves the right to withhold courses and school accommodation from any student violating school regulations or generally behaving in an offensive manner towards others. AL reserves the right to send home, without escort or refund, any participant violating the terms of this article. The return trip will be at the expense of the participant or their family.

Accuracy of information provided

Although every effort has been made to ensure that the information contained in our literature and websites is accurate, AL does not accept any responsibility for errors or omissions. We are dependent on the information supplied to us by our schools and the authorities abroad, who are at liberty to make changes at any time. We therefore ask that you discuss with us any details which are of particular importance to you before you make your booking.

If you have any questions regarding our Terms and Conditions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
