Accommodation
We offer an excellent range of accommodation options and are certain to have accommodation to suit you! If you are unsure which accommodation will best meet your requirements, please do not hesitate to contact us, as we know our schools extremely well and will be happy to help you make the right choice of accommodation for you.
The main accommodation types that we offer are:
Host Family accommodation
This would be our recommendation as the best option linguistically, as your hosts will encourage you to speak with them as much as possible whilst you are staying with them! You can usually choose to stay on a self-catering, bed and breakfast, half (breakfast + one other meal) or full board (3 meals) basis. Half-board is perhaps the best option if you do wish to have plenty of opportunity to practice speaking with your hosts, as the main meal is usually when students and hosts have the time to sit down and converse with each other.
You will have your own room and will share the bathroom and general living areas with your hosts. You will not usually have access to the kitchen (although it is usually possible to keep a small amount of food in the fridge and prepare snacks in the kitchen).
All host families are carefully selected and are well known by our colleagues at the school who visit them regularly to ensure that students continue to be accommodated in safe, suitable environments. Host families enjoy welcoming students into their home and helping them to practice speaking their language.
Host families come in all shapes and sizes and whilst some are 'traditional' families (i.e. parents with children) these do tend to be in the minority. Many are older couples or single people, perhaps whose adult children have now left home and this is why they have a spare room available in which to host students. If you do have any specific requirements regarding your host family accommodation, please do inform us at the time of booking and we will do our very best to arrange this with our colleagues at the school.
Shared apartment accommodation
Shared apartment accommodation means sharing an apartment with other students, or occasionally with the local owner of the apartment. You will have your own room and will share the kitchen, bathroom and general living area with your flatmates. This accommodation is offered on a self-catering basis, meaning that you cook for yourself using the shared kitchen in the apartment. Shared apartment accommodation is quite comfortable, but of a fairly basic standard and is therefore usually most popular amongst students in their twenties.
Private/studio apartment accommodation
If privacy is important to you and you wish to stay independently, you may like to consider staying in a private or studio apartment. A studio/private apartment has a bedroom, kitchenette and private bathroom.
Student residence accommodation
Student residence accommodation is a great option if you want to be accommodated with other students, although the specifics do vary slightly depending on the location. The student residence may be divided into shared apartments, or you may have a study bedroom. This accommodation option may be offered on a room only, self-catering, bed and breakfast, half or full board basis.
On-site shared apartment/student residence accommodation
This means that the student residence or shared apartment is in the same building or on the same site as the school, which is ideal if you do not wish to travel to school each day!
These are the most common accommodation types that we offer, although some locations do offer alternatives, such as hotels, guest houses and cabanas!
If you do require any further information at all regarding the accommodation options in your chosen location, please do not hesitate to contact us, as we will be very pleased to help!
