- 20 lessons in Mandarin Chinese per week, at our modern, well-equipped school in the centre of exciting Shanghai
- Three meals and two snacks a day, (or lunch and two snacks for Day Camp students)
- Accommodation (for Full Camp students), in a shared room at our residence, which has excellent facilities and is within easy reach of the school

Location
This Chinese course for Young Students offers young learners of Chinese the chance to experience a unique city, where East and West compliment each other beautifully. Cosmopolitan Shanghai is an intriguing mix of cultures, and the modern face of China, the perfect location for a Young Students course.
Central Shanghai is home to our modern school building, near to many Western shops, cafés and restaurants. The school has 12 classrooms, a computer lab and wireless Internet access throughout the building. After Chinese lessons, you can unwind in the pleasant surroundings of the school’s garden or in its relaxation lounge.
CourseThe minimum course length is two weeks, with 20 Chinese lessons a week. The course runs at a variety of levels, and all of our native Chinese teachers are experienced in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. So regardless of your current level of Chinese, you will soon be speaking the language with confidence!
Accommodation
If you decide upon the Full Camp option, you will benefit from total immersion in the Chinese language, living with fellow language students in our school’s residential centre. The complex is around 20 minutes away from the school by public transport, in an area with many restaurants and shops.
Rooms come in different sizes and styles, and you will have your own room or share with one or two other international students, who will be the same gender and around the same age as yourself. The apartments all have TVs, air-conditioning, fully-equipped kitchens and washing machines.
Or if you’ve come to China with your family, you will return to them each day after your Chinese lessons.
Level of supervisionAway from the classroom, all activities are supervised. For those students living in the residence, a monitor will stay with you in the apartment at the weekends and during the evenings, always on hand if you need anything. Slightly older students are afforded more freedom and don’t have monitors living with them.
ActivitiesDuring your time on this Chinese course for Young Students, you can really experience China and Chinese culture! Four times a week, afternoon activities such as Chinese calligraphy classes, martial arts, Chinese cookery and visits to acrobatics shows allow you to appreciate Chinese traditions. You can also join in with a variety of sporting activities, including football, swimming, table-tennis and badminton.
In the evenings, movie nights, barbeques and parties give you the ideal opportunity to get to know other language students from all over the world! Once a week, full-day trips will reveal the magic of China to you! Our excursion to the Great Wall of China is particularly popular with students.
TransfersBooking an airport transfer with our school, for a small extra fee, is highly recommended. A representative of the school will wait to pick you up at the airport, from where they will take you directly to the school, to receive your welcome pack.
SuitabilityThis is fantastic course for anyone between seven and 17 years of age, who wants to learn Chinese and experience the fascinating land of China! All students, from beginners to advanced learners, are welcome, as the course caters for a range of levels. Please note students aged 7-11 yrs must be accompanied by their parents and should arrange their own accommodation.
