French Christmas Course in Paris
Join us in Paris for the festive period and experience the magic of The City of Light in a totally new way! From extravagant department store displays to twinkling chalets at one of the city’s three Christmas markets, you’ll not want for festivities during your stay. Swig some mulled wine, warm your cockles with some roasted chestnuts or cinnamon crepes, and browse the trinkets and wares offered by Parisian artisans. Take part in a Paris illuminations cruise to experience the full majesty of the city’s major monuments, or head to the Basilique Sacre-Coeur for a traditional nativity scene.
If you think Paris is impressive in the summer time, you should see it in the winter! Our school in Paris is situated right in the city-centre, just a short walk from the famous Notre Dame cathedral. The ideal location will ensure that you are right at the heart of the festivities, where you can truly experience the city’s sense of community over the Christmas period.

This 2-week programme consists of a total of 32 lessons between Monday 23rd December 2019 and Friday 3rd January 2020. You’ll have 16 group lessons per week (4 classes per day) between 08:45 and 12:00, followed by a selection of seasonal activities in the afternoon. Your evenings will be free for you to enjoy the city’s festivities. Please note that there will be no lessons on 25th December or 1st January; the package price is calculated to reflect these closures.

Level: This course is suitable for students who already have some experience of French, and is therefore not suitable for beginners. Advanced tuition is available.
Accommodation
Accommodation is not included in this package as standard but can be added for an additional fee. Lodging is available from the Sunday before the course starts until the Saturday after it finishes, as standard.
For a completely immersive experience, we highly recommend staying with a carefully-selected homestay host. All hosts offer private bedrooms on a breakfast-included or half-board basis; since mealtimes are such a social occasion in French culture, we suggest the half-board option. Staying with a French host gives you a fantastic opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the French language and culture, as well as experiencing Christmas in a unique setting. Usually you would share bathroom facilities with your host(s), though some can offer private bathroom access (subject to availability). All homestay lodging includes bed linen, towels, and a weekly laundry service.
If you prefer a more social experience, you can select one of the school’s student residences. Facilities vary by residence, but all buildings offer single or twin bedrooms with access to a private bathroom and on-site cooking facilities. Bed linens are included in all residences but towels are not, so you should bring your own. If you prefer complete independence and privacy, we can offer you a studio apartment. These are available on request and are subject to availability; please contact us for more information about either of these options.
If you prefer, you are welcome to book just your tuition with us and arrange your own lodging in Paris.
Activities
In addition to French tuition, our Christmas course in Paris also includes an extensive cultural activity programme. This consists of:
- Christmas-themed activities at the school
- A guided tour of the Fragonard perfume museum
- French film screenings
- A guided tour of the Saint Germain district
- Christmas and New Year’s aperitifs with your teachers
All activities are led in French, giving students the opportunity to practice their skills outside of the classroom and meet fellow language-enthusiasts. These activities are included in the cost of the programme, and provide insight into the city’s history, as well as French festive traditions.
How to get there
Airport transfers on arrival and/or departure are available upon request for an additional fee. These are offered at Paris Orly/Roissy Airport or one the city’s train stations.
