Montpellier is one of southern France’s most captivating cities, a sun-drenched Mediterranean destination where medieval streets open onto lively squares, world-class museums sit beside buzzing cafés, and the beaches of the Côte d’Azur are just a short commute away. Our French Club 50+ programme puts you right at the heart of the city, combining structured French tuition alongside students of all ages and nationalities with a rich calendar of cultural activities designed exclusively for mature learners. Located next to the iconic Place de la Comédie, our school gives you instant access to the best the city has to offer the moment your lessons end.
Steeped in over a millennium of history, Montpellier is home to one of the world's oldest universities, lending the city a sophisticated yet energetic atmosphere. You can wander through the historic faculty buildings where legends like Nostradamus once studied or visit the Saint Pierre Cathedral, a 14th-century masterpiece famous for its twin towers and vaulted ceilings. Just a stone's throw away, the University’s botanical gardens, which are the oldest in France, offer a peaceful retreat for a quiet stroll. All this makes Montpellier an ideal destination for those seeking a deeper connection to French history, culture and education.
Our school’s location ensures you are never far from the action. Take a walk to the Esplanade Charles-de-Gaulle, a leafy promenade perfect for browsing open-air markets, or enjoying an al fresco lunch. This area also houses Le Corum, the city's conference centre and opera house. At the centre of it all is the Place de la Comédie, nicknamed "The Egg" due to its unique shape. This vast pedestrian marble square is the ideal spot to practice your French over a coffee while admiring the ornate Opéra Comédie and the beautiful Three Graces fountain.
Our French school’s facilities provide a comfortable, modern environment for adult students, featuring air-conditioned classrooms and a dedicated resource library to help you refine your language skills outside of class. With prestigious FLE and IALC accreditations, our centre guarantees a high standard of education in a professional setting. Whether you are visiting during the vibrant literary festivals of spring or the charming Christmas markets of winter, you will find that Montpellier’s 300 days of annual sunshine provide the perfect backdrop for your language journey.

The Club 50+ package at our Place de la Comedie Montpellier school
Our Club 50+ programme combines our popular French course (Intensive 24) in mixed-age groups with a specially curated afternoon schedule for students aged 50 and over. Your French lessons take place every weekday morning from 09:00 to 12:15, providing structured tuition in a relaxed, supportive setting before your afternoon of culture, exploration, and socialising with likeminded mature students.
Joining the school’s main French group course, you will receive 24 lessons per week in small classes of no more than 12 students. Groups are formed according to ability level, assessed before you arrive via a written placement test and confirmed on your first morning with a short oral check. This ensures that every student is working at a level that is genuinely challenging and rewarding, without being overwhelming.
The programme is open to students from false beginner (A1) upwards, so even those with very limited French can take part. A special arrival date is available for absolute beginners in October. At the end of your stay you will receive a certificate confirming the level you have reached, and an optional TCF language exam can be taken for formal certification.
The Club 50+ programme runs for 1 or 2 weeks at a time and has specific start dates throughout the year. Courses are particularly popular in May and October, when activities are tailored especially around this age group. Autumn sessions also run weekly from mid-September to late October.
Please note: A minimum number of six participants is required for the Club 50+ programme to proceed. In the unlikely event that enrolment on a given date falls below this threshold, affected students will still be welcome to attend the programme, and the school’s own Intensive (24) course but won’t have a specialist set of Club 50+ cultural activities.

Contact us if you prefer to opt for a special no-meal arrangement with use of the host’s kitchen.
Bed linen, towels, and a weekly laundry service are included in the cost of your accommodation. You will have your own key and the freedom to come and go as you please, while respecting your host’s household schedule. A complimentary airport transfer is included with all homestay options. Here your host will collect you on arrival and return you to Montpellier-Méditerranée Airport on departure.
