French Club 50+ course in Nice
Our French Club 50+ courses in Nice take place at our French language school in the heart of the city. Located on the dazzling Cote d'Azur, Nice enjoys a year-round Mediterranean climate and has long been dubbed Nice La Belle - ‘Nice the Beautiful’ - by locals and visitors alike. Our school here has 10 air-conditioned classrooms and a library with a selection of multi-media learning resources. You’ll also benefit from access to the school’s student computers, which are available for schoolwork or personal use. There are vending machines serving hot and cold drinks and snacks in the building, although the nearest café is only a short walk away if you’d like something more substantial!
Nice has a very particular culture thanks to its location close to the Italian border; as the boundaries between countries changed, Nice’s allegiance changed. These varying political and cultural influences have helped to create the unique atmosphere of this beautiful seaside city. If you learn French in Nice, you can experience the lifestyle here for yourself with a stroll along the Promenade des Anglais, Nice's seafront esplanade, where you will find the exclusive Hotel Negresco. Or why not climb up to the Colline du Chateau, where you will find fantastic views over the Bay of Angels and Nice's picturesque harbour? Or you could simply explore the narrow streets of the old town, home to daily markets offering local produce, fruit, and flowers.
This language school has Label Qualité FLE accreditation from the French Ministry of Education, the definitive marker of excellence in this field. It is also a member of the International Association of Language Centres (IALC), Campus France, and the FLE Group, organisations committed to maintaining high standards of language tuition worldwide. As well as its great credentials, the school’s enviable location in the city centre makes it a sought-after location in which to learn French.

Club 50+ course in Nice
The Club 50+ package offered by this school consists of 15 French lessons each week (3 classes per weekday) in groups of no more than 10. Lessons take place between 09:30 and 12:15 and are followed by a selection of social/cultural activities designed with mature students in mind. Tuition is suitable for students with A2 or higher French ability, so is not appropriate for complete beginners. Classes follow the same format as the standard Intensive programme, with the exception that students must be over the age of 50 to be eligible.
The Club 50+ course can be taken for 2 weeks at a time and has specific start dates throughout the year.
Accommodation
Accommodation is not included in the Club 50+ programme as standard but can be added to your tuition package.
For maximum immersion, we recommend selecting homestay lodging so you can stay with native French people. You’ll be able to practice your language skills outside the classroom and therefore get a well-rounded immersive experience. Hosts live up to 30 minutes’ travel from the school and all offer a safe and comfortable living environment. You’ll have a private single or twin* bedroom and 2 meals per day as part of your accommodation package (breakfast and dinner). You will share the living and bathroom facilities with your host(s) and any other students in the home. Bed linens, towels, and a weekly laundry service are included in the accommodation package. You will have your own key to come and go as you please, but you must respect house rules and schedules. Your host(s) will provide a transfer service on arrival for you; please see the Travel section for more details.
If you prefer a bit more independence but would still like to interact with a French person, you can select a shared apartment on a self-catering basis and have the freedom to cook for yourself during your stay. You’ll have a private single bedroom and share the living and bathroom facilities with your fellow residents; there may or may not be other international students in the home. Bed linens are provided but towels are not, so you should bring your own. Many apartments have on-site laundry facilities, though some do not (you may need to use a local laundrette). Please note that, while you will be staying with a French person, this type of lodging offers much fewer opportunities for language immersion and French practice than the packages with meals. A transfer service on arrival is not included with this type of accommodation.
For total independence and privacy, select a studio apartment in the school’s student residence. The residence building is located approximately 20 minutes’ walk from the school and offers single- or double*-use studio apartments with their own fully equipped kitchenettes and private bathrooms. The benefit of this type of lodging is that you’ll have all the independence of an apartment with the extra amenities offered by a hotel, such as an indoor swimming pool, Wi-Fi and air-con, and parking. As standard, these studios are available on a self-catering basis, though an optional breakfast service is available (paid for on-site). Bed linens and towels are provided as standard and a laundry service is available on request.
*Twin rooms and double-occupancy studios are only available to students travelling together.
Accommodation is available from the Sunday before the start of your course until the Saturday after your course finishes. Check-in and check-out times are usually very flexible.
Activities
The Club 50+ package includes a selection of social and cultural activities designed to supplement your French tuition and give you the best possible experience in Nice. You’re guaranteed to have 4 activities per week, though others may also be available.
Possible activities may include:
- Guided walking tours of the city centre
- Petanque games
- Visits to local museums and/or art galleries
- French film screenings
- Evening events such as a group dinner or concert
- Dance classes
- Food- and drink-tasting workshops
- A farewell lunch on the final Friday
- Half- and full-day excursions to locations such as Monaco, Beaulieu et Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, or Villefranche sur Mer
You are also welcome to attend the sessions offered to all students on the general activity programme if you wish.
Suitability
This programme is ideal for mature students wanting to study French with other international learners of a similar age. Tuition is suitable for students with A2 or higher French ability, and is therefore not appropriate for complete beginners.
Please contact us if you are unsure if this programme would be suitable for you; we will be happy to advise you.
How to get there
Nice Côte d’Azur Airport is around 20 minutes’ drive from the city centre and is easily accessible from many European cities. From here, you can take public transport to your accommodation.
If you select homestay lodging (with meals), your hosts will collect you from the airport on arrival and bring you back on departure in time for your returning flight - this service is offered for free. If you select any other type of accommodation, you will need to make your own way to your lodging on arrival and back to the airport on departure.
You should arrange to arrive in Nice on the Sunday before the course starts and depart on the Saturday after the course finishes. We may be able to arrange extra nights on arrival and/or departure for you if needed.

I really enjoyed my two weeks at the school in Nice Learning was fun, the staff friendly, the teacher Delphine was superb I didn’t want to come home!
I stayed with a lovely couple, they made us welcome and bent over backwards to help us, both with our french and learning about the french way of life. A big thank you to them both.

I found the Course excellent. The Professor....Sandrine....was patient, understanding and a superb teacher of French for my level. I gained much from the Course.
My hosts were very considerate in all ways. Although their understanding of English was not great my host Alexandrine had an app on her iPad covering English and French. We did not need this too often as my French is reasonable. The accommodation was very nice and my host's cooking was delicious.

This was my 7th time attending this school and I hope there's an 8th, 9th, and more! I especially loved my prof, Sandrine, this year. She made everything so much fun. But the very best part was the excursions that go along with the Club 50 course. The school planned so many very fun and interesting things for us to do.

It was a varied programme and Gil, the tutor, was good at adapting the course to fit the group. It seemed quite challenging at first but by the end of the week, I felt more confident about speaking French and felt more able to understand what was being said.
This was excellent with a delightful hostess, Benedicte, who made us feel very much at home and was really encouraging with helping us speak French. The dinners she provided were delicious, and she was very flexible with times/arrangements. She also was helpful with information about buses/trains and local area.
It was a very stimulating and enjoyable week and I would have liked to stay for the 2 week course another time.

No complaints about school or staff. Must mention excellent activities programme with special mention for Aurelia who worked above and beyond the call of duty.
Found my own accommodation, Hotel Comte de Nice, which I would not recommend. Awakened every morning around 5 and 6 am with noise of market being built and deliveries made. [Apple Language Courses has a wide range of accommodation options in Nice and are happy to recommend alternative hotels to clients].
Two excellent meals included. One evening at typical Nicoise restaurant and farewell lunch on last Friday. Other schools should emulate.

I had the best time in Nice this year and felt that my French really improved. Best of all, I loved the activities organized for the Club 50 class. The school staff worked very hard to make sure we had a great time in Nice.
The accommodation (Self-Catering Hotel) was very, very comfortable and the manager, Monique L'Aury, could not have been more friendly and helpful. I loved staying there!
I plan to come back!

What a wonderful school! The teachers are great and the extracurricular activities (I was in the Club 50 group) were beyond great. This was my third time at this school and there may be a fourth in my future. My accommodation was exellent, comfortable & central to everything I needed. The Apple Languages staff were very helpful throughout my enrollment!

My course was excellent, my 7th time at this school. The accommodation is good and convenient for the tram to the school. As a person who has to holiday alone I find it a great holiday and have made many friends.

The classes were well run and fun. No one was made to feel incompetent or embarrassed and the teacher was excellent. The trips out in the afternoon were also well or ganised and interesting. I was very impressed and would do another course through Apple but in a different location as that would be more interesting. I stayed with Solange Bourdis who is a delightful and energetic widow of 72 years. She has a very comfortable and elegant apartment which is about 10 minutes walk from the college and the same from the sea so perfectly placed. We got on very well with her and she spent two evenings out with us.There was nothing about the whole experience that I would be able to find fault with. The help from everyone both in the UK and in France was first class.
