French Club 50+ courses, Nice
Our French Club 50+ courses in Nice take place at our French language school in the heart of the city. Located on the dazzling Cote d'Azur, Nice enjoys a year-round Mediterranean climate and has long been dubbed Nice La Belle - ‘Nice the Beautiful’ - by locals and visitors alike. Our school here has 10 air-conditioned classrooms and a library with a selection of multi-media learning resources. You’ll also benefit from access to the school’s student computers, which are available for schoolwork or personal use. There are vending machines serving hot and cold drinks and snacks in the building, although the nearest café is only a short walk away if you’d like something more substantial!
Nice has a very particular culture thanks to its location close to the Italian border; as the boundaries between countries changed, Nice’s allegiance changed. These varying political and cultural influences have helped to create the unique atmosphere of this beautiful seaside city. If you learn French in Nice, you can experience the lifestyle here for yourself with a stroll along the Promenade des Anglais, Nice's seafront esplanade, where you will find the exclusive Hotel Negresco. Or why not climb up to the Colline du Chateau, where you will find fantastic views over the Bay of Angels and Nice's picturesque harbour? Or you could simply explore the narrow streets of the old town, home to daily markets offering local produce, fruit, and flowers.
This language school has Label Qualité FLE accreditation from the French Ministry of Education, the definitive marker of excellence in this field. It is also a member of the International Association of Language Centres (IALC), Campus France, and the FLE Group, organisations committed to maintaining high standards of language tuition worldwide. As well as its great credentials, the school’s enviable location in the city centre makes it a sought-after location in which to learn French.

Accommodation
Accommodation is not included in the Club 50+ programme as standard but can be added to your tuition package.
For maximum immersion, we recommend selecting homestay lodging so you can stay with native French people. You’ll be able to practice your language skills outside the classroom and therefore get a well-rounded immersive experience. Hosts live up to 30 minutes’ travel from the school and all offer a safe and comfortable living environment. You’ll have a private single or twin* bedroom and 2 meals per day as part of your accommodation package (breakfast and dinner). You will share the living and bathroom facilities with your host(s) and any other students in the home. Bed linens, towels, and a weekly laundry service are included in the accommodation package. You will have your own key to come and go as you please, but you must respect house rules and schedules. Your host(s) will provide a transfer service on arrival for you; please see the Travel section for more details.
If you prefer a bit more independence but would still like to interact with a French person, you can select a shared apartment on a self-catering basis and have the freedom to cook for yourself during your stay. You’ll have a private single bedroom and share the living and bathroom facilities with your fellow residents; there may or may not be other international students in the home. Bed linens are provided but towels are not, so you should bring your own. Many apartments have on-site laundry facilities, though some do not (you may need to use a local laundrette). Please note that, while you will be staying with a French person, this type of lodging offers much fewer opportunities for language immersion and French practice than the packages with meals. A transfer service on arrival is not included with this type of accommodation.
For total independence and privacy, select a studio apartment in the school’s student residence. The residence building is located approximately 20 minutes’ walk from the school and offers single- or double*-use studio apartments with their own fully equipped kitchenettes and private bathrooms. The benefit of this type of lodging is that you’ll have all the independence of an apartment with the extra amenities offered by a hotel, such as an indoor swimming pool, Wi-Fi and air-con, and parking. As standard, these studios are available on a self-catering basis, though an optional breakfast service is available (paid for on-site). Bed linens and towels are provided as standard and a laundry service is available on request.
*Twin rooms and double-occupancy studios are only available to students travelling together.
Accommodation is available from the Sunday before the start of your course until the Saturday after your course finishes. Check-in and check-out times are usually very flexible.
Activities
The Club 50+ package includes a selection of social and cultural activities designed to supplement your French tuition and give you the best possible experience in Nice. You’re guaranteed to have 4 activities per week, though others may also be available.
Possible activities may include:
- Guided walking tours of the city centre
- Petanque games
- Visits to local museums and/or art galleries
- French film screenings
- Evening events such as a group dinner or concert
- Dance classes
- Food- and drink-tasting workshops
- A farewell lunch on the final Friday
- Half- and full-day excursions to locations such as Monaco, Beaulieu et Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, or Villefranche sur Mer
You are also welcome to attend the sessions offered to all students on the general activity programme if you wish.
Suitability
This programme is ideal for mature students wanting to study French with other international learners of a similar age. Tuition is suitable for students with A2 or higher French ability, and is therefore not appropriate for complete beginners.
Please contact us if you are unsure if this programme would be suitable for you; we will be happy to advise you.
How to get there
Nice Côte d’Azur Airport is around 20 minutes’ drive from the city centre and is easily accessible from many European cities. From here, you can take public transport to your accommodation.
If you select homestay lodging (with meals), your hosts will collect you from the airport on arrival and bring you back on departure in time for your returning flight - this service is offered for free. If you select any other type of accommodation, you will need to make your own way to your lodging on arrival and back to the airport on departure.
You should arrange to arrive in Nice on the Sunday before the course starts and depart on the Saturday after the course finishes. We may be able to arrange extra nights on arrival and/or departure for you if needed.
