This special Club 50+ French course for students aged 50 years and above is run by our school in Rouen, Normandy. It’s the ideal programme for students who not only want to improve their French, but also want a pleasant, fully immersive cultural holiday in the capital of the Normandy region.
Situated in a standalone building with convenient street parking, our French language school is nestled in the stylish and serene Jardin des Plantes (Botanical Gardens) neighbourhood. This area is known for its abundance of local stores and services, creating a pleasant and accessible environment. Moreover, it's just a short walk away from the bustling retail district of St Sever. The school building is housed in a 600 square meter structure on the ground level, with 12 large and airy classrooms and a student resource centre, ensuring excellent access and comfort for all. Metro and bus stops are only a few minutes away so travel to and from the surrounding area is easy.

Club 50+ course in Rouen
You will take a French course of 15 lessons per week in mixed groups of all ages, according to your level of French. Class sizes are a maximum of 15 students, and you will share these with other adult students of all ages. In addition to the mixed-age French classes, you will take part in an activity programme that is exclusively for and tailored towards 50+ students.
In contrast to other French language schools, our Rouen school considers each lesson as a complete hour of tuition. This means that with 15 lessons per week, you'll receive 3 hours of French instruction per day in mixed-age classes, divided according to your exact level of French. The schedule adheres to the Semi-Intensive programme in Rouen, running from 9:30 to 13:00, with a 30-minute break from 11:00 to 11:30.
The Club 50+ course can be taken for 1 or 2 weeks at a time and has two specific start dates during the year.
Accommodation
Immerse yourself fully in the French language and the French way of life, by staying with a Host Family! Practice your French language skills in a warm and welcoming environment with a friendly local family, carefully selected by our colleagues at the school. You will have single room and a half-board meal plan. You can also choose the Host Family Plus option which includes a private bathroom.
The half-board plan means your host family will provide two meals, breakfast and dinner, during the week. During the weekend you will receive full-board meals, which could be an extra simple packed lunch, depending on your schedule. You will also have clean towels, sheets and bed linen, light laundry on offer and access to a peaceful space with a desk and chair where you can work and study.
All accommodation options are from Sunday to Saturday, but extra nights can be arranged on request. We can also recommend some 2* to 5* hotels nearby if you prefer to make your own accommodation arrangements.
Activities
The Club 50+ course offers a rich cultural experience with four weekly activities. These may comprise historical tours of Rouen, guided visits to the Impressionist gallery, excursions to cheese or wine producers, trips to the Historial Jeanne d’Arc (a museum dedicated to Joan of Arc), scenic cruises on the Seine, visits to Monte's House in Giverny, and explorations of picturesque locations like Honfleur and Trouville, among other engaging options. Immerse yourself in a diverse range of cultural activities that showcase the beauty and history of the region.
The Club 50+ activities in Rouen are specially designed only for this age group. Where possible our school will create a 50+ group for your language lessons, but these can be mixed with other students on the Semi-Intensive course. Apart from some transportation to/from the venue everything else related to the activities are with Club 50+ students only.
Suitability
This Club 50+ programme in Rouen is ideal for mature students wanting to be immersed in French in the capital of Normandy with other international learners of a similar age. Activities are solely for Club 50+ students whilst tuition is often in mixed ages, but this means it is suitable for students from complete beginner to advanced level of French.

Optional private airport transfers upon arrival and/or departure from/to Paris Roissy, Paris Orly, Paris Beauvais or Deauville airports can be arranged upon request. Please note that the transfer service is not included in the cost of the programme and will incur an additional fee.
