Italian Club 50+ courses, Florence

Our Italian Club 50+ courses in Florence take place at our general language school in the city centre. Since the middle ages, this city has been a global cultural hub, attracting writers, artists, architects, and scholars - it’s therefore a perfect destination for culture vultures and history buffs! Our language centre here has 10 air-conditioned classrooms, all with modern audio-visual equipment. The facility also has a library with various multi-media resources that will help to complement your classroom learning. Established in 1982, it has almost 40 years of experience teaching Italian to international students of all abilities and backgrounds.

The school is very close to the Arno, and less than 5 minutes’ walk from the famous Ponte Vecchio. Other nearby attractions include The Baboli Gardens - an extensive public park with various historic buildings and attractions - and the magnificent Santa Maria Cathedral, with its famous red dome. The city offers a huge variety of eateries, many serving traditional Italian cuisine. The school itself is close to various cafés and restaurants, so you won’t need to go far to get refreshments after your lessons have finished. This amazing location makes it easy to discover the beautiful city of Florence and you’ll be able to practice your new Italian skills as you explore! Several public transport links are available within a short walk of the school, so you can easily get to further-out attractions like the Porta Romana, the San Marco Museum, and the Puccini Theatre.

This language school is a member of the International Association of Language Centres (IALC) and Eduitalia, two organisations dedicated to maintaining high standards of language tuition in its member schools. It is formally accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education, University, and Research; this highly sought-after recognition demonstrates the excellent quality of teaching available at this facility. What’s more, the school’s location in the centre of Florence allows you to fully experience the delights of this cultural capital during your time here.

Accommodation

Accommodation is not included in the Club 50+ programme as standard but can be added to your tuition package.

For maximum Italian immersion, we recommend that you select homestay lodging. Hosts are all native Italians, so you’ll be able to practice your language skills with them and carry on learning even outside the classroom. Hosts offer a private single or twin* bedroom and shared living and bathroom facilities. You’ll receive 1 or 2 meals per day as part of the accommodation package (breakfast or breakfast and dinner). Special diets can be provided for an additional fee (includes vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-/lactose-free, etc). All hosts live within 30 minutes of the school by public transport. Bed linens and towels are included and changed regularly. Laundry is not usually included but you may be able to arrange this with your host(s); if not, you can use a local laundrette. You will have your own key to come and go as you please, though you must respect house rules and schedules.

If you prefer more privacy and independence, a studio apartment would be best. All apartments are suitable for one or two people* and have a fully equipped kitchenette, a private bathroom, a television, and Wi-Fi access. Apartments are located in the city centre and are thus within around 20 minutes’ travel of the school by public transport. Premium apartments are available on request. Utilities and a final cleaning must be paid for on-site at the end of your stay. A security deposit of €200 is required on arrival; this will be returned to you on departure providing your key is returned and the apartment is left in a suitable condition.

*Twin rooms are only available to students travelling together.

Accommodation is available from the Sunday before the start of your course until the Saturday after your course finishes. Check-in and check-out times are usually very flexible.
