The old central quarter of Cadiz is famous for its quaint beauty. Evidence of the international importance of Cadiz over the years can be seen in the buildings, monuments and stately mansions. Different people from different cultures have settled here and this character remains imprinted in the vibrant culture of the city. It is also reflected in the Cadiz of today.

The school building occupies an ideal location just outside the old town city walls, in one of the nicest areas of the city. This provides the best spot from which you can explore the new part of the city, with all of its amenities and facilities, in addition to enjoying the beauty of the old town.
There are 8 modern and fully-equipped classrooms, all with natural light. Other facilities in the school include a library, a multi-media room, wheelchair access and a large conference room. There is free Wifi throughout the school and interactive whiteboards in all of the classrooms.

Regardless of your age, being able to express yourself in Spanish opens up a huge range of opportunities and is both enriching and enjoyable. There are close to 500 million speakers of Spanish in the world and so it is perhaps the most sociable language of them all! For all of these reasons our Club 50+ course in Cadiz will offer you much more than a pleasant holiday.
The program is designed with the expectations and interests of this age group in mind. Reduced class sizes of just 5-8 students facilitates more time with the teachers and offers a more personalized approach. With regards to the methodology, a lot of attention is given to communication skills and developing competence. For example: you will learn to deal with all kinds of real-life situations, such as discussing current news events; completing errands in the bank; asking for general information and ordering food and drink.
In the afternoons and the evenings you can immerse yourself in the culture and the local traditions of Cadiz and the surrounding countryside. Activities are planned especially for the over fifties. This total immersion experience will take you to music and dance shows and introduce you to the food and wine of the region.
You will gain insight into the history and architecture of the city, whilst at the same time making the most of the relaxed, seaside lifestyle. There are full-day excursions at the weekends to other places of interest in Andalusia.

Depending on your preferences and also your budget, you can stay in self-catered shared apartments, private apartments or with a Spanish host family. All of the accommodation in Cadiz is situated maximum 20-25 minutes walking distance from the school.
For a real feel of day-to-day life in Andalusia, then you should stay with one of our friendly and caring Spanish host families. This is a wonderful way to immerse yourself in the language. Over breakfast you will have the chance to learn new vocabulary and local expressions! You have the choice of breakfast only, or two meals per day included in the homestay option. For an additional fee, depending on availability, you can also request a private bathroom. Please inform us in advance of any special dietary needs or requirements. All of the host families are carefully selected and the facilities provided in the homestay are evaluated and monitored regularly.
If you wish to prepare your own meals then we recommend you to book either a shared apartment or a private studio apartment. In a shared flat you have access to a fully-equipped kitchen and common use of the living areas and bathroom. Shared rooms can be booked by two students who are travelling together. Towels and bed-linen are provided.
Private apartments are available with one (standard) or two bedrooms (luxury) and are located in the best areas in the city centre. These are fully equipped, self-catering apartments with air-conditioning and heating. Electricity and water bills are included up to 50 euros per month. Bed linen is provided, but students should bring their own towels with them. There is an optional cleaning service and please note the high season surcharge on private apartments between the months of July and September.
During the high-season summer months, student residence or hotel accommodation is also available on request. Please contact us for further details.
All accommodation is available between 4pm on the Sunday before your course starts, until midday on the Saturday after your course ends. If any extra nights are required, please book these as far in advance as possible.
Our Club 50+ course in Cadiz offers an exceptional culture activities program in the afternoons and evenings for mature students. There are additional unique highlights throughout the year, depending on the season.
Following an orientation tour of Cadiz, you will also enjoy welcome drinks at the start of your course and a traditional meal with the teacher. Other events include a cookery class, a Flamenco dance show, a Tapas tour in the old town and wine-tastings.
There are cultural activities related to Art and History or to Wine & Gastronomy, depending on the period of your stay. Weekend excursions are arranged to other sights in and around Cadiz. For example you may have the chance to visit the large mosque at Cordoba, or the sherry and brandy bodegas situated between the beautiful white-washed walls of El Puerto de Santa Maria! Excursions are offered at a small extra cost payable at the school, after your arrival.
If you are aged 50 or above and you would like to improve your Spanish abilities whilst exploring a seaside location, filled with centuries-old traditions, then this course is perfect for you. The progam caters for mature students with Elementary to Upper Intermediate Spanish levels (A1 rto B2). Class sizes are reduced, ensuring an excellent level of teaching. The rich and varied social program included with this course is sure to captivate you and broaden your horizons!
How to get there
To reach Cadiz you can fly to either Jerez or to Seville airport.
Our school offers an airport transfer service from/to Jerez airport on request. Please include this at the time of your booking. You will then be met at the airport and taken directly to your accommodation in Cadiz. The journey takes approximately 35 minutes by car or taxi.
There are also frequent trains running to Cadiz from both Jerez and Seville and it is also possible and relatively straightforward to arrive in Cadiz by train from Madrid. This longer journey will take around 5 hours and there are 3 trains each day, or 4 during the summertime.
