Spanish Club 50+ course in Nerja
Our Spanish Club 50+ courses in Nerja take place at our Spanish language school in the town centre. Known for its friendly and outgoing locals, Nerja is a favourite amongst language students as it’s a town where you can easily make friends and practise your Spanish skills. Our school has 16 air-conditioned classrooms, some of which are accessible for students with reduced mobility or those using a wheelchair. It has a lovely private garden with a terraced area and an outdoor café. There’s also a rooftop terrace where lessons often take place, and various study spaces dotted around the building.
Nerja is a typical Andalusian town, with white-washed buildings and winding, narrow streets filled with eateries serving traditional regional fare. Most of these local establishments are in the immediate vicinity of our language school and are well worth a visit if you’re looking for an authentic Spanish experience. Nerja is a great location for nature buffs: the town is surrounded by dramatic countryside, including the Tejeda, Almijara, and Alhama Natural Park, which offers breath-taking views and idyllic scenery. An hour’s drive away you’ll find a collection of caves that are not just impressive to look at - they also contain evidence of human settlement from over 40,000 years ago! In July, these caves play host to a colourful celebration of Spanish music and dance. While Nerja may at first glance seem to be a sleepy seaside pueblo, it’s actually a vibrant and interesting town brimming with attractions for all to enjoy!
This school is accredited by the Cervantes Institute and is a member of the International Association of Language Centres (IALC). It’s an award-winning facility that has been nominated for Study Travel Magazine’s Star Spanish School award a whopping 10 times! These credentials demonstrate the high quality of language tuition provided here. It’s the ideal facility for anyone looking for an immersive Spanish experience that combines interesting attractions and activities with an authentic small-town feel.

Club 50+ course in Nerja
The Club 50+ programme offered by this school consists of 15 Spanish lessons each week (3 classes per weekday) in groups of no more than 10. Lessons take place between 10:00 and 13:00 and are followed by a selection of social/cultural activities designed with mature students in mind. Tuition is suitable for complete beginners and experienced learners up to B1 level, but is not appropriate for advanced-level learners. Classes follow the same format as the standard Intensive programme, with the exception that students must be over the age of 50 to be eligible. Course materials for this programme are purchased on-site.
The Club 50+ course can be taken for 1 or 2 weeks at a time and has specific start dates throughout the year. Complete beginners should start their course on the first week of the 2-week block.
Accommodation
Accommodation is not included in the Club 50+ programme as standard but can be added to your tuition package.
For maximum language immersion, we recommend that you stay with local homestay hosts. You’ll live with a native Spaniard and be able to practice Spanish with them, allowing you to carry on learning even outside the classroom. Hosts live up to 20 minutes’ walk from the school and all offer a safe and comfortable living environment. You’ll have a private single or twin* bedroom and 2 meals per day as part of your accommodation package (breakfast and lunch). You will share the living and bathroom facilities with your host(s) and any other students living in the home. Bed linens and towels are included in the accommodation package and changed weekly. Hosts do not provide a laundry service - if you need to wash your clothes during your stay, you can use the laundry service provided by the student residence (see below). You will have your own key to come and go as you please, but you must respect house rules and schedules.
The jewel in this school’s crown is undoubtedly its student residence, which is just a few minutes’ walk from the language centre. Offering standard and executive private single or twin* bedrooms, the residence is the most popular option for our Club 50+ students as it is close to the school, has excellent facilities, and offers the chance to socialise with your fellow students. It has its own library and bookshop, a student common room, a café serving a variety of drinks and snacks, a rooftop terrace with a small pool, and a lovely courtyard where wine-tasting workshops and other cultural activities often take place. Standard bedrooms have an en-suite bathroom, a television, and a desk for completing your schoolwork; executive rooms also have a minibar and drinks-making facilities. Bed linens and towels are included and changed once a week. A laundry service is available for an additional fee. As standard, rooms are offered on a no-meals basis, though a continental breakfast is included for courses taking place between April and October.
If you prefer complete independence, you should select one of the residence’s studio apartments. These studios are newly decorated and have a fully equipped kitchenette (including a microwave and coffee machine), a seating area with a television, and a private bathroom. Bed linens and towels are included and changed once a week. A laundry service is available on-site for an additional fee. As standard, studios are offered on a self-catering basis, though a continental breakfast is included for courses taking place between April and October. During this period, you can also select a half-board package and receive a voucher for lunch or dinner each day in a local restaurant.
*Twin rooms are only available to students travelling together.
All accommodation is available from the Sunday before the start of your course until the Saturday after your course finishes. If you are selecting to study for just 1 week, you should arrange to depart on the Sunday after your course finishes so you can attend the Saturday excursion. Check-in and check-out times vary based on the type of lodging selected.

How to get there
Málaga Costa del Sol Airport is around an hour’s drive from Nerja and is easily accessible from many European cities.
From here, you can either take public transport to your accommodation or we can add an airport transfer service to your booking for an additional charge. If you select this service, a driver will be waiting for you at the airport when you land and will take you directly to your accommodation. If you select this service on departure as well, you will be collected from your lodging on your last day and taken back to the airport in time for your departing flight.
You should arrange to arrive in Nerja on the Sunday before the course starts and depart on the Saturday after the course finishes. If you are selecting to study for just 1 week, you should arrange to depart on the Sunday after the course finishes so you can attend the Saturday excursion. We may be able to arrange extra nights on arrival and/or departure for you if needed.

Student reviews & feedback
Club 50+ with Student Residence
Excellent. Each individual was initially evaluated as to level of language competence. This was successful as there were few changes afterwards. The classes were well planned and very interesting but also stretching. I was most impressed. I would definitely attend another year as it certainly expanded my knowledge. Staff were extremely good and helpful.
I had a room with en-suite. Next year I will go for a studio as I would like a separate sitting area. The accommodation was basic but covered all my needs. It was extremely clean and cleaning staff very helpful.

Course was at a good level and students were able to converse and write Spanish while being observed by the teacher and mistakes corrected with good humour.
Accommodation was good. Very clean and towels changed often. However, sheets were not changed in the two weeks I was there.

I loved the fact that all the teachers spoke very slowly for the students. I was in the elementary class and was able to follow the teacher throughout. I learned a lot.
Accommodation was adequate. Lovely and clean and towels changed at least twice a week. Breakfast in the cafe was good and having a pool was a bonus.
One of the best holidays I have had for a long time and the fact that I went on my own proved how welcoming and caring the staff were, as were most of the other students.

Lessons in beautiful courtyard surroundings/classrooms (inspiring). The course itself (50+ for beginners) was a perfect introduction to Spanish - taken at an inclusive pace for all. Most of all, the teachers (especially our teacher - Marion) were wonderful - professional, knowledgeable, kind and fun. The additional activities were excellent, giving a more rounded experience of language and culture.
Stayed in the Club Costa Nerja Accommodation perfect in every respect: Central and just around the corner to the school. Many extra benefits (other than a small pool on the roof top!) A courtyard and lounge area for study and socialising, plus extra rooms for study and lectures. Also rendevous point for activities. Everywhere spotless and nothing too much trouble for the staff.
Highly recommend in all aspects. Would like to return again very soon.

The course was excellent! Lessons were lively and great fun, tutor, Francisco was very creative and expressive. There was the recognition that, although grammar was important, of greater importance was to be talking all the time - even in breaks between lessons, I found, as a group, we were speaking Spanish! All the staff at the school were so welcoming, and the activities were amazing - history, culture etc. I will definitely be returning to Nerja, thank you!
I stayed with a host family and felt welcomed immediately! They opened their home to me and looked after me so well, I felt relaxed and comfortable from the very outset. I feel that living with a family helped me to continue my practice and learning beyond school time, and enriched my experience hugely. We had lots of long conversations about all topics, so it definitely helped me in becoming more confident about speaking the language.
I just want to say again that my whole experience has been amazing! The whole process, from the beginning, booking my course with the company, friendly, helpful staff if I had any questions, my transfer to Nerja to my accommodation, being welcomed by my host family and then being settled into the school. I feel my group (8 total) bonded really well, and we had lots of fun whilst learning! We shared meals and times together on evenings after excursions which was great! Everything was organised and explained so well. Thank you again for such a wonderful stay!!

I have just returned from Nerja and thought I would jot down my thoughts. Firstly my whole experience was exceptional. Apple languages prompt, diligent service is outstanding. The arrangements you made did not disappoint even down to my salsa lessons with two wonderful, expert, patient dancers. I learned a great deal from them. The school itself was excellent. I had two teachers one taught my class and the other my private lessons. Both were exceptionally professional. The pace of the lessons was challenging and exciting and kept my interest at all times. We had a lot of fun during our class lesson. My private lesson was also outstanding with a truly professional fun teacher. Two talented exceptional teachers, cheers Raquel and Alberto! The school residence is fabulous and the two ladies who made breakfast and cleaned the rooms were just so nice, always happy to help me understand Spanish. The secretary at the school is a wonderfully organised person who is also very kind and determined to make our stay as stress free as possible. All in all a wonderful experience. Money well spent. I will continue to learn Spanish in England this year. Next year I will go back to Nerja. Once again Muchos Gracias
