Spanish & Gastronomy in Cádiz
Our Spanish & Gastronomy classes in Cádiz take place at our Spanish language school on the edge of the city’s central Old Town. The locals here are well-known for being very open and friendly, making Cádiz a fantastic location for learning Spanish! As an historic city, the traditional cuisine of Cádiz blends influences from Italian, Greek, African, and Iberian cooking. Its location on the west coast of the country means that seafood is the main attraction here, though don’t make the mistake of thinking that fish is all that’s on offer! Gaditano cuisine is known for its rich meats, sweet Arabic-inspired desserts, and flavourful stews uplifted by the sherry of nearby Jerez de la Frontera. Food in Spain is not just a big part of day-to-day life; it’s also closely linked to almost all the country’s cultural celebrations. From sweet, doughy Roscon de Reyes on Three Kings’ Day (January 6th) to creamy Huesos de Santos on Saints’ Day (November 1st) to eggy torrijas during Holy Week (Easter), food comes hand-in-hand with the biggest events of the Spanish social calendar.
Our Spanish & Gastronomy course in Cádiz allows you to learn how to make these iconic dishes while experiencing authentic Spanish life and learning the language from experienced and dedicated teachers. Combined with gastronomy-related activities, this course will give you a true taste of Gaditano cuisine, an arsenal of delicious recipes to take home with you, and a well-rounded understanding of the importance of food to Spanish people. Your Spanish lessons cover general language skills, with a focus on cookery-related vocabulary. Your cooking lessons are taught on-site in Spanish by a trained chef with a passion for gastronomy. Around these classes, you will be able to attend the school’s exciting social and cultural activity programme.
