Italian Wine and Language Course in Ravenna
Nestled near the eastern coast of Italy, Ravenna is filled with hidden cafes and romantic pedestrianised walkways in the city’s old town. Tucked away from the bustle of tourism, Ravenna has a quieter ambience making for a more relaxed study destination. Ravenna is without a doubt a hidden treasure when it comes to Italy’s historic cities, laying claim to a total of eight UNESCO World Heritage Monuments. Traces from the Western Roman Empire, Gothic Kingdom and Byzantine Empire are still seen in the city today — which is truly a testament to the Ravenna’s perseverance through time. Although it may not be one’s first thought for a holiday, that fact makes Ravenna an appealing location for an Italian language course.
Ravenna is in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy — known worldwide for its exquisite cuisine and delectable wines. The region has always held wine as a symbol of conviviality and hospitality, making them one of Italy’s most prolific regions for wine to this day. Particularly known for their Sangiovese di Romagna, the red wines of Ravenna are world class and complex in their flavour. White wines in the Emilia-Romagna region are also known for their special qualities, with local grapes such as the Albana and Pagadebit varieties being a staple for wine making in the area.

Wine Tasting course
The combined course is composed of two components: Intensive Italian lessons, and Italian Wine lessons.
There are 20 Italian language lessons per week — typically in the morning. The Italian lessons cover important aspects of the Italian language, including grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.
The Italian wine lessons take place once per week and each lesson is three hours in length from 17:00 to 20:00. The programme goes over wine related vocabulary, tasting techniques and sensory analysis, as well as covers a general overview of Italian wines. Students will participate in local wine tastings showcasing products made from native vines and experience the local Italian gastronomy as part of this course.
Although the course is typically one week in duration, it can be extended upon request.
