Liverpool

Liverpool, one of the most exciting cities in Europe, is a fantastic place to learn English! Liverpool is a very historic city, having been one of Britain’s most important ports for the last 800 years. In fact, several areas of the city (including Pier Head, Albert Dock and William Brown Street) are now UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Liverpool is also home to more museums, art galleries, and listed buildings than any other UK city outside of London. As the home of British pop group The Beatles, Liverpool has also become famous for its music scene and vibrant nightlife, not to mention its impressive sporting history! For these reasons, amongst many others, Liverpool was the European Capital of Culture in 2008.

Liverpool is also a very student-friendly city, thanks in part to its three universities, and welcomes many foreign students every year, which is perhaps one of the reasons it was voted the friendliest city in the United Kingdom in 2010!

Courses in Liverpool

Available courses

There are a wide range of English courses available at our school in Liverpool, so you will easily find a course to suit your requirements. If you need to improve your general level of English, then a group course of 20 or 28 lessons per week will allow you to do so. You will take a level test when you arrive at the school and the results will help our colleagues to place you in a suitable group, with students of a similar level to yourself.

If there is any particular element of the language that you would like to concentrate on, a course of private lessons, either by themselves or in addition to a group course, may be more suited to your requirements.

If you are intending to attend a university in the United Kingdom or in another English-speaking country, then you may need to prove your level of English by taking an IELTS or Cambridge exam. If so, then one of our ‘Exam Preparation’ courses will ensure that you are fully prepared; helping you to get the results you want!

Our school in Liverpool even offers a CELTA course, which is suitable for fluent English speakers who want to gain a qualification to teach English as a foreign language.

    Accommodation

    Available accommodation

There are a range of accommodation options available should you require, from host families, to shared apartments and student residences. If your aim is to push yourself to speak English as much as possible in order to progress quickly and improve your confidence, we recommend that you stay with a carefully selected host family. You can choose to stay on a half or full board basis. Host families usually live between 20-45 minutes from the school by public transport.

Student residence accommodation is a good option for those who prefer to live more socially with other students (please note that not all the students staying in this accommodation will be attending a language course at the school). This type of accommodation is comfortable but basic, which does mean that it tends to be most popular amongst students in their twenties. All student residence accommodation is offered on a room only basis, with access to a fully-equipped kitchen so that you can prepare your own meals. This type of accommodation is located 10 minutes walk from the city centre and 15-20 minutes from the school. There is one shared bathroom for every two bedrooms.

During the summer, we can also arrange university residence accommodation, which is located within walking distance of the school and offers en-suite bathrooms.

We also offer shared apartment accommodation, which is usually located in popular student areas within a maximum of 45 minutes from the school by public transport. In this type of accommodation you will have your own room and will share the facilities (i.e. kitchen, bathroom and general living area) with your roommates.

      Activities

It is impossible to get bored in Liverpool, especially with the exciting activities programme offered by our school! Examples of typical activities include orientation tours, big nights out to local bars and nightclubs, as well as an informal English Club where you can continue to develop your English outside of the classroom.

You can even purchase tickets to local attractions, such as the Beatles Museum and city tours, through the school’s dedicated student portal.

The course was really great and the whole experience is unforgettable. I am so happy about my course that I'm writing a travel diary about it on Apple Languages Blog, where I will explain every detail of this wonderful experience.

The student accommodation was truly amazing as well. Large, modern, full of facilities, very clean and, above all, full of friendly people ready to improve their English together with you and to do some English conversation. The most fun week of my life!

If travelling "opens your mind", then with a language course abroad your mind really becomes an open window! You have the opportunity to share this experience with people from all over the world, understand most of their culture, the different way of life and the different way of learning. You'll deeply know a new city, new people and, of course.. a new language! The lessons are really effective and you'll be able to communicate just in a few days. An enriched experience, from all points of view. Thanks Apple Language!
