Nice is an ideal place for young students to study thanks to its medium size, its many attractions, and its placement on the stunning Côte D’Azur. With 10 classrooms our language school is also medium-sized, making it easy for teenagers to make friends and find their feet. The facility has a library with a range of French learning resources, a selection of student computers, and vending machines serving hot and cold drinks and snacks. There is also a small private garden offering the perfect place to complete homework or simply relax after class under the Mediterranean sun!

The language school is particularly perfect for teenagers thanks to its great location within the city. It’s surrounded by shops and cafes, the beach is just 10 minutes’ walk away, and the old town can be reached in under 20 minutes. You and your classmates can enjoy all Nice has to offer right after class and can put your newly developed language skills into practice with the locals - is there any better way to get ready for a language test?

Courses in Nice

This specialist package consists of 26 group language classes per week, which are scheduled Monday - Friday.

It combines the Intensive course - where you can improve your general language knowledge and skills - with focused preparatory sessions designed to give you best chance of success in your exams.

You’ll have 4 group French classes per weekday on the Intensive course; these usually take place between 09:00 and 12:20 but may be scheduled in the afternoon during high season. Your 6 exam preparation sessions are arranged around the general French lessons and are usually timetabled 16:15 - 19:30 Tuesday - Thursday, though this may vary in high season. The exam preparation sessions focus on the skills needed for and the topics covered in the Irish Leaving Certificate paper.

Duration:
1+ weeks

Class size:
Max. 10 students on the Intensive course; max. 6 students in the exam preparation sessions

Level:
This course is designed for Irish teenagers with 5-6 years’ experience learning French at school (level A2/B1).

Suitability:
This course offers intensive French-language revision for the Irish Leaving Cert exam. It is suitable for students who are taking Transition Year as well as students who are going straight into their exams.

Our school accepts students aged 16 and above on its year-round courses. This means that students booking this course are treated as mature young adults. If you select this programme, you will be studying in mixed-age groups on the Intensive programme, will need to abide by a curfew, and will be expected to be mature enough to handle the responsibility of attending an ‘adult’ course. Our team, the staff at the school, and your hosts are all on-hand to provide support during your studies should you need it. If you prefer a fully supervised junior/teenage programme, please see our French Summer Course in Nice option for further details.

Course content:
In your Intensive classes you’ll develop your general French language proficiency in all areas: speaking, listening, reading, writing, and grammar. Only French is spoken in class and students are grouped according to their starting ability level; this methodology allows all students to progress appropriately under the careful guidance of our school’s native French teachers. Dynamic activities and games will also help you to improve your spoken confidence and listening skills.

In the extra sessions you’ll cover the specific topics that are likely to come up in your Leaving Cert test and work through past papers to help you master the techniques needed to ace your exams. Through engaging study materials and authentic texts, you’ll also get extra exposure to and practice with French, upping your chances of getting an amazing score!

The language lessons are complimented by a range of socio-cultural activities throughout the week. As well as being great fun, these activities are all provided in French. Since being immersed in a language is the best way to learn it, these activities will cement your classroom learning and help you to enhance your French knowledge without even realising it.

Dates:
This course is available during the summer between June and August. Please see our pricing tool for available start dates, or contact us for more information.
