If you want to learn French in a Caribbean paradise, then Martinique is the ideal location for you! The island of Martinique is an overseas department of France where you will find everything you know from the mainland, but in one of the most picturesque and tropical settings you can imagine! Martinique is sandwiched between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic and is a well known destination for watersports enthusiasts. It is home to golden, sandy beaches, lapped by crystal blue waters and shaded by towering palm and coconut trees.
The ‘Paris of the Caribbean’, Fort-de-France is the capital of Martinique and is where you will find our French language school. A bustling port city, Fort-de-France has long been influential in the region. Colonial architecture provides the backdrop for vibrant, colourful festivals which showcase the island’s wonderful culture, rooted in both Europe and Africa.

Located in a lively area of Fort-de-France, our school is less than 10 minutes’ walk from Place de la Savane, the city’s central park, and the Schoelcher Library, which was built in Paris for the 1889 World Exposition, before being dismantled and re-built in Martinique.

Courses in Fort-de-France
Our school in Martinique teaches standard French that you will be able to use to converse with any Francophone, regardless of where they come from. All the teachers are native French speakers and are both fully qualified and experienced in teaching French as a foreign language to international students.
Our courses are suitable for students of all levels, from complete beginner to advanced. On arrival at the school, if you already speak some French, you will take a level test to ensure that you are placed in a suitable group with students of a similar level to yourself. Beginners, of course, do not need to take this test and will automatically be placed in a group with other beginners.
The most popular course offered by our school in Martinique is the Intensive course, consisting of 20 group lessons per week. On this course, students focus on improving their overall level of French, with an emphasis on the everyday, practical usage of the language. The exact content is tailored by the teacher to meet the level and requirements of the class.
The Super-Intensive course combines these 20 group lessons with 3 themed workshops, consisting of 2 lessons each. These additional 6 lessons per week concentrate on reinforcing the language, exam preparation or learning more about history and culture.
If there is any aspect of the French language which you would really like to concentrate on during your time in Martinique, you could also consider adding some Private French Lessons to your group course, or even taking a course of one-to-one classes only.
You can really make the most of your time on this stunning Caribbean island and add some adventure to your language course by booking a French course with diving or a French course with kite-surfing! The courses are offered all year round and combine 20 general French classes each week with 4 sports sessions a week: 4 half-days on the water with kitesurfing, or 1 introduction dive and 3 further dives as part of the diving course.
We also offer a Business French course which consists of 20 general French lessons plus 6 specialised one-to-one sessions per week focusing on the language skills required to conduct business in French. Please note that you will already need to speak French to an ‘intermediate’ level to take this course. If you work in the tourism industry, our ‘French and Tourism’ course is structured very similarly, but the one-to-one sessions are focused on the language required for this industry.
