Using Annecy as your base for skiing offers the unique combination of charming lakeside views, proximity to the French Alps, and access to excellent, less crowded ski resorts. Known as the "Venice of the Alps," Annecy is famous for its stunning lake with crystal-clear waters and a picturesque old town. Skiing near Annecy lets you enjoy both the mountains and the lake, providing a perfect balance between winter sports and relaxation in a peaceful, scenic environment.

Though Annecy itself is not a ski resort, it is conveniently located near several excellent ski areas, including:

· Le Grand Bornand (40 minutes away): A smaller, family-friendly resort with a rich farming history, offering great slopes for beginners and intermediates.
· Semnoz (30 minutes away): A small, lesser-known resort with affordable skiing and stunning panoramic views of Lake Annecy and the surrounding Alps, perfect for a relaxed ski day or a quick trip.

These resorts are ideal for those looking to avoid the crowds of larger ski areas while still enjoying quality slopes and good snow. During the week, you can explore Annecy and its beautiful surroundings after your French lessons.

The ski season typically runs from late December to April, though higher-altitude resorts like Chamonix or Avoriaz may open as early as late November and remain open until early May, depending on snow conditions.
