German and Skiing in Kitzbuhel
Set in the Austrian Tyrol Mountains, Kitzbuhel is a quaint medieval town, surrounded by spectacular natural beauty. It is also a world-famous ski resort, renowned for its international skiing competitions! It’s a great destination to practise winter sports alongside a German language course!
Our German language school is located just outside of the town, around a 15-20 minute walk from the centre. The peaceful suburb offers lots of amenities, with guest houses, supermarkets, a hairdresser, gym, sports equipment and clothing stores, pubs, restaurants and a bank all located close by.
The nearest stop for the ski bus is less than five minutes from the school, making it incredibly easy to head to the slopes straight after classes!
Skiing in Kitzbuhel
In Kitzbuhel, the winter sports season usually runs from the end of November to the end of April, making this the perfect time to combine your German lessons with skiing or snowboarding in your free time.
The school’s director is a former ski instructor and knows the area very well. Although ski trips aren’t arranged by the language school, he is always happy to provide information on the best slopes to head for depending on ability and weather conditions.
Kitzbuhel is a world-renowned winter sports destination thanks to its a state-of-the-art lift system and 145 miles of slopes. In January, the Hahnenkamm Streif racecourse draws around 90,000 spectators to the area. If your course dates coincide with the annual race be sure to book as early as possible as accommodation availability is always very limited!
Guest house accommodation (various options available)
Our family run partner school has links with several guest houses in Kitzbuhel that offer preferential rates to our students. For those on a budget there is a bed and breakfast that offers single rooms with a private shower room and access to shared toilets. If you would prefer a private bathroom the school works with another establishment that offers en-suite rooms. There is also a swimming pool and sauna at this option - perfect for when you want to unwind after an exhilarating afternoon on the slopes!
We can make the accommodation reservation for you, but you should pay the accommodation fees, and tourist tax, direct to the accommodation provider on arrival.
Our small and friendly school in Kitzbuhel offers a limited number of organised activities as most students prefer to arrange their own time outside of the classroom. However, the teachers and students quite often go for a coffee or drink together after classes to continue perfecting German conversation skills.
Although not arranged by the school, there are many options for free time activities in the local area, which include:
• Horse riding
• Mountain walks
• Cultural excursions (Innsbruck, Salzburg…)
How to get there
You can fly to Munich, Salzburg or Innsbruck airports Airport. We will be happy to make recommendations about companies offering transfer to Kitzbuhel - please contact us for more information.
