Portuguese and Surfing Course in Lisbon
One of Lisbon's many charms is its vibrant beach culture, which draws students from around the world to this captivating city. Lisbon is surrounded by beautiful sandy beaches stretching along three distinct coastlines, making it an ideal destination for surfers. With its spectacular views-where you can catch a glimpse of Lisbon’s colourful cityscape from the waves-surfing here is irresistible. To make the experience even better, we offer a combined Portuguese and Surfing course at our Lisbon school, allowing you to improve your Portuguese in the mornings while learning to surf in your afternoons.
Our Lisbon school partners with the prestigious Ondas d’Aventura, a professional surf school whose instructors are certified by the Portuguese Surfing Federation. This collaboration brings you the chance to seamlessly blend language learning with surfing, all in a supportive environment with highly skilled instructors. On days without surf lessons, students are welcome to join the school’s social activities for more opportunities to connect and explore the city.

Portuguese and Surfing
Start your day learning Portuguese in Lisbon and spend your afternoons at the beach surfing! This course, known as Intensive + Surfing, includes 20 Portuguese lessons per week in small groups of no more than 8 students. Your language lessons follow the same morning schedule as the Intensive language course. In the afternoons, you'll head to the beach for surfing practice and lessons.
The 2-week course includes 5 surf lessons, while the 4-week course includes 10 surf lessons. Surf classes are scheduled based on weather conditions and are held in small groups of around 6 students.
The course fee includes transportation to and from the beaches and all necessary surf equipment. Surf lessons are scheduled based on weather and sea conditions and additional lessons can be booked upon request.
Course Duration: 2 or 4 weeks
Level: Suitable for students of all levels of experience

Accommodation
For a fully immersive experience in Lisbon, we recommend staying with a Host Family. You’ll have a private room, daily breakfast, and free evenings to explore the city. Living with native Portuguese speakers allows you to practice the language naturally outside class. Hosts provide bed linens, towels, and a shared bathroom, though laundry services are nearby.
If you require more a more independent stay, consider a Shared Apartment. Located just a 15-minute walk from school, these apartments offer private rooms and shared spaces, including a kitchen, lounge, bathroom(s), and Wi-Fi. With self-catering facilities, bed linens, towels, and laundry access, these apartments provide flexibility and great value. A €100 security deposit is required, refundable upon departure if left in good condition.
From February to August and for stays of two weeks or more, you can choose the Studio in Residence option. These premium studio apartments are located in a nearby student residence just 10 minutes from the school. You will have an ensuite bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, air conditioning, TV, and high-speed Wi-Fi.

Activities
Beyond surfing, our Lisbon school offers a lively monthly programme of cultural activities designed to immerse students in Portuguese life. Each week, students can join social events like movie nights and lectures that explore Portuguese art, history, and current affairs. Guided visits to museums and monuments provide expert insights into Lisbon’s heritage, complementing language classes with real-world context.
To deepen the cultural experience, our school organises evening outings to traditional bars, authentic Portuguese dinners, and wine tastings, giving a taste of the country’s famous cuisine and hospitality. Students can also enjoy live music events, including “arraiais” and fado performances, as well as half-day Saturday excursions to nearby scenic spots. These activities make language learning in Lisbon both educational and memorable, enriching your overall experience.
How to get there
You can fly into Lisbon airport, which has great transport links to the city centre. Alternatively, we can arrange a private transfer to pick you up from the airport to take you directly to your accommodation. Please note that the transfer service is not included in the price and will incur an additional fee.
