Portuguese and Surfing in Lisbon
Among Lisbon’s many wonderful things to see and do, one of the main things that attracts our students to this fascinating city is its beach culture. With beautiful sandy beaches surrounding the city and stretching along three coastlines, it is no surprise that surfing in Lisbon is a popular sport amongst tourists and locals alike. And with such stunning views of the colourful city from out at sea, you won’t be able to resist the urge to grab your surfboard and head to the beach! To make things even easier, we offer a special combined Portuguese and Surfing course at our school in Lisbon, giving you the opportunity to sharpen up on your Portuguese skills and learning to surf in your free-time, whilst meeting like-minded students from across the world.

Portuguese and Surfing
Learn Portuguese in the mornings and spend your afternoons on the beach! On this course, students receive 15 Portuguese lessons per week in small groups of no more than 8 students.
In the afternoons, you’ll head off to the beach for surf practice! If you book the 2-week course, you will receive 5 surf lessons across the 2 weeks, and if you book the 4-week course, you will receive 10 lessons across the 4 weeks. Surf Classes will be scheduled depending upon the weather conditions, and take place in mini-groups of around 6 students. The course price includes transportation, all necessary surf materials and insurance.
Course Duration: 2 or 4 weeks
Level: Suitable for students of all levels of experience
Accommodation
- Stay with a Portuguese host family on a bed and breakfast basis, where you can get an authentic experience of the Lisbon way of life and practise your Portuguese skills in a real-life context
- If you would like to live with other students from the language school, you can stay in a shared apartment. Accommodation is offered in private rooms with shared bathroom, kitchen and living facilities
- Alternatively, you can choose the student residence accommodation, where you will live with students from all over the world
Activities
It wouldn’t be language immersion without a cultural activity programme! Each week, you will be given the opportunity to get involved with a vast array of social activities organised by our friendly school staff. These vary from week to week, but may include city walks, dinners, wine-tasting, Portuguese films, lectures, live music, museum visits, and so much more!
How to get there
You can fly into Lisbon airport, which has great transport links to the city centre. Alternatively, we can arrange a private transfer to pick you up from the airport to take you directly to your accommodation. Please note that the transfer service is not included in the price and will incur an additional fee.
