Spanish and Surfing/Diving in Puerto de la Cruz

Once a charming seaside town, Puerto de la Cruz is now every surfer’s paradise, home to beautiful landscape beaches, such as Playa Jardin and Martiánez. The town is also a popular spot for divers, with Tenerife’s varied coastline offering many underwater habitats to be discovered, giving divers a unique underwater experience on every dive! In Puerto de la Cruz, we offer students the chance to combine their Spanish lessons with either surfing or diving, and with courses suitable for both beginners and more advanced students, you will be sure to find the perfect water-sports course for you.

Spanish and Surfing
Learn Spanish in the morning and spend your afternoons riding the waves! The Spanish and surfing course in Puerto de la Cruz includes 20 group Spanish lessons per week and a surf trial lesson on a Tuesday afternoon at Playa Martiánez.
The surf session lasts 2 hours and covers both theory and practical lessons, additional surf lessons can be booked directly with the surf school.
Course duration: 1-4 weeks
Level: This course is suitable for students of all levels!
Spanish and Diving
Our Spanish and diving course includes 20 morning Spanish lessons per week.
The diving course is spread across five days. Within the five days, you will receive:
• Five days of theory lessons
• Two dives in a swimming pool
• Four dives in the sea
The price also includes all necessary equipment and transportation to and from the dive sites. You will also take a theory examination and receive an Open Water Diver certificate at the end of your course.
If you are a more experienced diver, you can take the Advanced Diver course. This course includes:
• One deep water dive
• One dive from a boat
• One underwater orientation session
• One night dive
• One wreck dive
Course duration: The diving course can be completed in 1 week, but it is recommended to spread it across 2 weeks to reduce the intensity.
Level: The Spanish and diving course is suitable for all levels.
Accommodation
- For a fully-immersive experience during your time in Puerto de la Cruz, opt to stay with a local host family. You can choose bed and breakfast for more independence, or half-board if you wish to practise your Spanish skills with your host as much as possible!
- Alternatively, choose to stay in one of the school’s shared apartments. Accommodation is offered in private rooms with shared bathroom, kitchen and living facilities.
Activities
Want to practise Spanish outside of the classroom in real-life situations? Then get involved in our school’s activity programme! Activities on offer may vary each week, but typically include a welcome meeting, a visit to the botanical gardens, flamenco lessons, salsa lessons, seminars on Spanish culture, beach volleyball, and excursions to nearby towns and cities.
How to get there
The nearest airport to our school in Puerto de la Cruz is Tenerife North, but you could also fly into Tenerife South. We can arrange transfers from either airport, which will take you directly to your accommodation. Please note that airport transfers are not included in the price and will incur an additional fee.
