Courses in London Highgate
Available all year round, our Junior course in Highgate includes 28 English lessons per week, which take place from Monday through to Friday. This course aims to improve students’ general level of English in a fun and relaxed setting, with an emphasis on communication. Different age-groups tend to study separately, with 14-15-year-olds and 16-17-year olds placed together, in different groups.
From the end of June until the end of July, we can also arrange a course of Intensive English + Activities. This course consists of 20 English lessons per week, taking place in the afternoons, and guided visits and excursions of London in the mornings.
Accommodation
Students taking the Junior programme in Highgate can stay with local host families on a half-board basis. All host families have been carefully selected by our colleagues at the school, providing a welcoming environment for students during their stay in London and a wonderful insight into typical daily life of an English family. Half-board includes two meals per day which are shared with the family, and act as an excellent opportunity to practise English with native speakers of the language.
Supervision
Our Highgate school in London welcomes both juniors and adults all year round. Although school staff are happy to provide students with any assistance required, please note that 24-hour supervision is not provided on this programme.
Activities
In addition to the English lessons, students who are 14 or 15 years old and attending the Intensive course of 28 lessons will have free admission into any three activities of their choice per week (subject to the school’s weekly activity programme). Although these activities are not uniquely designed for students under 18 years old, the programme includes many activities suitable for young students. These may include things like bowling, cinema trips, museum visits, game nights, yoga and sports activities, arts and crafts and much more! Students who are 16 or 17 years can also participate in the activity programme, but book and pay for activities at the school on arrival.
Students taking the Intensive English + Sightseeing summer course will take part in organised cultural visits and excursions around London in the morning before their lessons. Not only will this give students the chance to practise the language skills they have learned outside the classroom, but also gives them a wonderful insight into the history and culture of England’s fantastic capital city!
Suitability
This course is designed for 14-17-year-olds who prefer to have a little more independence, while studying in a safe and relaxed area of London with the city centre within easy reach.
How to get there
Students under the age of 16 are required to book a transfer service upon arrival and departure, and students aged 16-17 are advised to do so too. We can arrange transfers from/to Heathrow, London City, Stanstead, Luton or Gatwick Airports. Please note that this service is not included in the total cost of the course.
