Intensive German Course

Students can take an Intensive German course at Ebernburg. Courses are offered at varying levels of proficiency including A1, A2, B1 and B2. Students are also divided into two age groups: 10-12 years and 13-16 years. In the 10-12 age group, there is one staff member for every 10 students. In the 13-16 age group, there is one staff member for every 15 students.

The Intensive German course follows the following timetable and structure: 15 hours/week with 20 lessons of 45 minutes in length. Lessons are from 9:00 to 12:30.

There is a unique unit in the course in which students collaborate to create projects such as movies or podcasts — developing skills such as time management and teamwork over 8 lessons.

Medieval Castle in Ebernburg

Ebernburg Castle is situated above the town of Bad Münster am Stein-Ebernburg — a low mountainous region enrobed by forests and the river Nahe. The nearest rock formations just across the river are the highest north of the Alps and are truly a sight to behold. Every angle of the surrounding area will bring an air of fantasy and mystique — complimenting the Wizarding theme in the activity programme. Our school — Ebernburg Castle, has been restored its Medieval glory but dates back to around 1338. Destroyed and rebuilt a handful of times, the castle has a wealth of history to be uncovered and explored during the summer language courses. Teaching and accommodation facilities have been modernised — ensuring an optimal learning environment and comfortable living conditions

Student Residence Plus rooms include an en-suite.

Activities

The activity programme has a range of fun and immersive activities for the students. On day one, students are divided into houses, competing and finishing tasks in the course for a week. The winning house is celebrated in the final evening event and awarded the house cup. There are guided tours of the castle, sports, art workshops, magic competitions for house points, movie nights and plenty more to keep students entertained and involved outside of their lessons.

Excursions are also included in the programme and price - boasting German guided tours in gorgeous cities like Frankfurt, Worms, Mains, Bingen, Rüdesheim and Koblenz. Excursions will also include free time for students to explore the sights, cafes and do some shopping with friends. The amount of free time will depend on the student’s age - the 10-12 age group will have more supervision and less free time than the 13-16 age group. In general, activities are fully supervised for students aged 10-12, and a little more free time for students aged 13-16.
During the first week, one full day trip is included. With each additional week in the course, there will be another two full day excursions per week. Excursions are all organized by train.

The course includes a Digital Detox - smartphone-free afternoons where staff will take care of student’s phone and allow them to enjoy the activities without distractions.

Supervision

There is a fixed activity program afternoons and evenings that students are required to attend. For the 10-12 age group attendance is taken at the beginning of each activity, while students aged 13-16 will have more free time to break off into pairs or small groups with a staff member to explore. Students are not permitted to leave the campus unattended — no matter the age group.

There is also a 24/7 emergency phone.

How to get there

There are three transfer options to get to our school: Self-arranged, low budget transfers from and to Frankfurt Airport, and Airport transfers from and to Frankfurt Airport.

Self-arranged journeys require the student’s parent(s) or guardian to accompany them directly to the school at Ebernburg Castle from the airport, and back to the airport on departure day.

Low budget transfers will be provided by train. Students should fly into Frankfurt Airport between 10:00 and 15:00 (non-European students are recommended to arrive before 14:00). Upon arrival, students will be greeted by the school Meet & Greet team at their terminal and accompanied to the Frankfurt Airport train station. The journey is approximately 2 hours with a changeover. On the day of the departure, students will be dropped off at Frankfurt Airport around 10:00, so its therefore recommended flights be booked after 12:00.

Airport transfers are done on an individual basis with one way or return options. Students will be met by the school’s Meet & Greet service at the customs exit at Frankfurt Airport and taken directly to the school. On the day of the student’s departure, a driver will bring the student to the airport in time for their flight and accompany them to their terminal and check in desk.

Transfers are offered at a flat rate.

If the student is booked as an Unaccompanied Minor with their airline, an Unaccompanied Minor service is to be requested from the school.
