Courses in Freiburg
The German Summer Course for children and teens in Freiburg is available each year in July and August, for all students who would like to improve their language skills, whilst enjoying a holiday, together with other students of the same age. The course lasts for 2, 3 or 4 weeks and is the ideal chance for students from the ages of 10 to 13 years, or from 14 to 17 years, to improve their German skills during the summer school holiday. There are 20 language lessons each week, with each class lasting 45 minutes. The tuition is designed with the needs and requirements of young learners in mind, using modern teaching techniques and a communicative approach. The culture and leisure programme in the afternoons and at the weekends, is led by a highly motivated, young and energetic team of school staff, making your summer course the experience of a life-time!
Accommodation is available with a German host family, or in the residence building on a full-board basis.
For the best chance to get to know the people, the culture and the country, then we recommend staying with a German host family! You will share a bedroom with another international student. Single rooms are also available for an additional fee. German hosts could be single people or married couples, either with or without children and all of the hosts are carefully selected and monitored by the school staff, offering our young students a relaxed and welcoming home environment during their stay in Freiburg. Typically, the host families live between 10 and 40 minutes from the school, in lovely residential suburbs. Freiburg is a small and safe city and all young students receive a local transport pass on their arrival, to be able to reach the school easily every day.
For students who would prefer to live together with other international students then we also offer supervised accommodation in a youth hostel in the city centre, just a short bus ride from the school. All rooms are bright and well-furnished, offering optimal accommodation to our young learners, in a pleasant environment.
The programme ensures a high level of individual care and student support, in tailor-made classes for junior students and teenagers. Aside from the team of teachers, there are always other experienced members of school staff available each day, for extra counselling or advice. The social and cultural activities programme in the afternoons are fully supervised and there is always a member of staff in the student residence accommodation.
Learning German involves not only classroom tuition, but experiencing the culture and the lifestyle outside of the school! Both the city of Freiburg and the beautiful surrounding countryside offer plenty of free time activities, exciting sports possibilities and endless chances for sightseeing, whilst practising as much German as you can. The school has developed a special programme of fully supervised social activities, sports, visits and excursions, to ensure that you make the very most out of your stay, by seeing and doing as much as possible!
There are historical guided tours of the medieval old town, museum and theatre visits, climbing and hiking excursions, canoe trips, volleyball, swimming and football. You can participate in evenings of games, film evenings, or dinners together in the school. In the summer months there are BBQs and trips to the lakes with a picnic and swimming, or a boat trip. School excursions will also take you to the Black Forest and to the famous “Kaiserstuhl”, or to the internationally famous “Europapark”- one of Europe’s best and most popular theme parks! There is no better way to learn German on holiday!
