German Summer course for Young Students in Potsdam, Germany
(12-16)Potsdam lies in the Berlin metropolitan area, less than a 40 minute train ride from the centre of the city; however, the two locations could not give a more different impression! Potsdam is a small, historic and relaxing city, home to the immense Sanssouci Park, surround by woodland and filled with gardens, castles and palaces! The architectural history of the city Potsdam exposes many European influences, with its Dutch Quarter, the fruit orchards of the Russian Colony Alexandrowka and the Slavic Weaver's Quarter in Babelsberg. Many of the sites in Potsdam are World Heritage UNESCO sites. Potsdam is a safe, charming and inspiring place to visit and is also today a modern city of science and education, attracting students of all ages, from all over the world.

Courses in Potsdam
We offer a Young Student's programme of 20 general language classes per week, combined with social and cultural activities and full-board accommodation with a German host family. This programme is suitable for students aged 12 to 16 years, who already have an elementary level of German. There is an average of 10-12 students per class and a maximum of 15. All students will take a placement test on the first day of the course, so that they are placed in exactly the correct class for their language level. The school's native German teachers offer a total immersion experience, with lessons that are especially geared towards juniors and teens. A variety of resources are incorporated, to make speaking, understanding and participating in class easy, through practise, discussions, role-plays and dialogue! The team is dedicated, enthusiastic and committed to helping you have the study holiday of a lifetime!
Accommodation
Staying with a German host family in Potsdam will enhance your total immersion experience, giving you the chance to practise your German language skills as much as you like! Your host offers you a comfortable and welcoming home environment, with 3 meals per day, including a packed lunch in the middle of the day. All of the host families are chosen carefully and monitored by our German schools own Accommodation Officer. Accommodation in a shared room is included in the programme fees, however a single room can be requested for an additional fee. Please don't forget to mention any special dietary requirements at the time of your booking, so that you can be placed with the best family on your arrival, according to your needs.
Supervision
The programme guarantees high level of supervision, appropriate for students of this age group. All cultural activities, sports and excursions are supervised by fully qualified staff and students are expected to take part in them. Host families will care for the students at all other times and students with parental permission can meet each other and socialise, according to the curfews agreed on in advance of your arrival.
Activities
There are 4 social and cultural activities each week in the afternoons, included in the programme fees, as well as one full-day weekend excursion on Saturdays. Students have the chance to take part in a variety of sports and games in the parks in and around Potsdam. There are guided visits to Sanssouci Palace, to the Zoological Gardens, Cecilienhof Palace and the Europa Center, to name just a few places. There are canoe trips and boat cruises, from Potsdam to Berlin-Wannsee, as well as afternoon swimming sessions and picnics by the lake! There are regular excursions to numerous sights and attractions in the centre of Berlin, including a trip to the Reichstag or a visit to the beautiful Prenzlauer Berg neighbourhood. You may take a bicycle tour around Potsdam or visit the famous Babelsberg Film Studio with stunt-show! Sundays are usually reserved for spending time with your host family.

How to get there
Airport transfers can be booked from Berlin airport on your arrival and departure, however, please note that this is not included in the programme fees. All students who arrive into Potsdam train station receive a free transfer on their arrival and departure, from their host families.
