German Summer course for Teenagers in Wiesbaden, Germany
(14-17)The lovely city of Wiesbaden became known as an important thermal springs and spa city, boasting 26 hot springs! In the 19th century the city also became a very popular gambling centre, with a casino rivalling that of Monaco! Today the city is still rich and beautiful. Wiesbaden, in southwest Germany, offers our Young Students a relaxing and peaceful medium-sized city, with plenty of things to see and do. Wiesbaden is extremely well connected with Frankfurt, Cologne and Mainz and benefits from the business of many hundreds of travellers to the numerous yearly trade fairs and conventions that take place in and around Frankfurt.
The school building is situated in the centre of Wiesbaden, just a few minutes walking distance from the central station and hence extremely easy to reach from all of the city's attractions and amenities, as well as from all of the host family accommodation. All public transport links stop at the central station. The school has 8 well-equipped classrooms, a multi-media room, cafeteria and a small library
Courses in Wiesbaden
The courses for teenagers in Wiesbaden take place in June, July and August each year and are suitable for all students aged 14 to 17 years old, who have already had at least one or two years of German studies in school. All students are placed in the correct class on the first day of the programme, with respect to their German language level on arrival. The tuition focusses on communication skills and makes use of a selective choice of teaching materials and methods, especially suited to teenagers. Current social and political topics of interest ensure that the classes are always interesting and entertaining and students will soon find that their skills in all aspects of the language improve quickly, as they gain confidence in using German in all kinds of everyday situations. It is possible to select either a standard course, of 20 lessons per week, or a more intensive programme consisting of 24 classes per week.
Accommodation
Staying with a German host family will give you the chance to get to know the local life and culture in Wiesbaden, to meet the native people and to improve your German skills through tonnes of practise! You will share a twin bedroom, together with another international student of the same age and gender, or a single room can be requested for an additional fee. The bathroom facilities and living areas are shared with your host family. Most of the hosts live around 15 to 45 minutes from the school by public transport and they will be happy to help you get to know the best and fastest way to school. Please note that host families are sometimes couples without children, or even single people. All of the hosts are carefully chosen by the school staff and reviewed on a regular basis, to ensure quality and comfort, offering all of our students a welcoming and caring home-away-from-home!
Supervision
The German classes offer a great deal of personalised and individual attention from qualified teachers and the school's cultural activities programme is led by teachers and by experienced members of school staff, who are always available for help and support including all day on Saturdays, when there is full-day excursion. In the evenings students will often have free time to spend with their host families, or they can go out to meet with friends, provided that they confirm to their host where they are going and when they expect to return.
