Video guide to Chamonix, France

Sharing a common border with Switzerland and Italy, Chamonix is located within the Alps mountain range, and is naturally famous for its skiing and snowboarding opportunities. Although Chamonix is a really popular destination among celebrities, it opens its doors to anybody who wishes to discover its fantastic outdoor lifestyle.

The reason Chamonix tends to attract so many people is because the city is home to the Mont Blanc (White Mountain), the highest mountain of the Alps and the European Union! It actually rises 4810 metres above sea level, which makes it the 6th highest mountain of continental Europe.

Chamonix knows how to combine leisure, sports, tranquillity, change of scene, and breathtaking natural beauty and the video below gives you a great insight in to this!:

Actually, Chamonix’s natural heritage is absolutely incredible: this destination is ideal if you want to fill your lungs with fresh and pure mountain air. Obviously, sports enthusiasts will be delighted with what Chamonix has to offer during the winter but it’s also an excellent base for outdoor sports during the summer.

Chamonix actually hosted the first Winter Olympics in 1924 and is now considered as a capital of winter sports.

Buzzing skiing events regularly take place in the bustling city, inhabited by 10,000 permanent residents, including the many mountain guides and ski instructors that make Chamonix their home! Although skiing in Chamonix is far from being effortless, the feeling offered by riding these fantastic pistes is priceless.

You are looking for other activities fun to do in the summer? Then why not rent a kayak to descend through the white water of the valley of Chamonix? If you feel more comfortable in the air, there are also excellent, dramatic views to be had from paragliding. Finally, two other options remain: trekking or climbing the edges of impressive mountain peaks.

Chamonix is not all sports and fitness, however, and is home to some of the best burger bars in the whole of France! There is also a very lively Après-ski scene with several parties happening in various bars around the village each night.

Whether it’s tranquillity or activity that you are looking for while on your French language course in Chamonix, you will definitely fall in love with this superior quality of life in the heart of the Alps.
