Flamingo Beach, Pure Paradise!!!

I’ve just finished four weeks in Costa Rica and it was the most incredible experience of my life! The school in Flamingo Beach is amazing and classes are small, so you learn better. Plus, if there is not a group for your level, then you get offered private classes – which is fantastic – but there was always a class for my level!

Also, everyday at break there is fresh fruit, fruit drinks and something savoury, all for free!! Not what you normally expect! I loved my ‘second breakfast’, sitting by the school pool, relaxing in the sun with my classmates.

The school is by some great beaches and with your student pass you also have free access to a nearby hotel swimming pool and discounts in certain bars!!!

Flamingo Beach – Sand and Salsa!

Flamingo Beach was, for me, the most perfect place imaginable to learn Spanish! An exotic paradise with beautiful pristine beaches, tiki charm, and an unbelievable atmosphere. No wonder the people that lived there were so warm and friendly!

The 5 minute walk to the beach from school was just the icing on the cake. We were on the gorgeous Guanacaste coast, and Flamingo Beach was just one of many amazing beaches I got to visit. We were so lucky; we even had our own pool at the school, so I would regularly go to class with my bathers all ready to jump in as soon as my lessons ended!

Studying Spanish in Flamingo Beach gave me the chance to enjoy the great outdoors with the natural beauty of forests, and stunning coastline on my doorstep. I saw so much amazing wildlife and all kinds of weird and wonderful plants and flowers!

My last week in Costa Rica has begun

Hola amigos!

As I’ve written before, time flies here in Costa Rica and yesterday was my first day of my last week at the school in Playa Flamingo. Before I go back home to Europe I still, luckily enough, do have one week left of travelling on my own here in Costa Rica. It might be a good opportunity to practice my Spanish.

Going to San José – my course in Costa Rica

Hola mis amigos!

Another week passed by and I only have two more weeks of school left! 🙁

I’ve had a really great teacher this week and I really feel that my Spanish is getting better all the time. The weather is still warm and yesterday we even went sailing at Playa Conchal, which is a beautiful beach a little south of Playa Flamingo. On Monday we visited Playa Tamarindo after school but I found it to be too touristy for my tastes. Here in Flamingo it’s still possible to practice your Spanish with the locals. Bar Penca in Potrero is for example a great place to pratice your Spanish.

Costa Rica: saludos de la playa!

Hola amigos!

After a weekend in La Fortuna close to Volcan Arenal, the third most active volcano in the world, I’ve now moved on to Playa Flamingo on the northwestern coast of Costa Rica. The weather here is really hot and the climate isn’t as humid as it was in Monteverde.

I guess it’ll take some time before I get adjusted to the new school. I just liked the school in Monteverde so much. But the fellow students here are also very great and I even have some friends from Monteverde here. I also like my new teacher and my new host family a lot.

Time flies in Costa Roca!

Hola mis amigos!

It’s a week since my last post and lots of things has happened since last time. My Spanish is improving all the time and the teachers are really great here at the school in Monteverde.

I can really recommend this school to everybody who is interested in studying Spanish. Next week I will continue on to the school in Playa Flamingo. I can’t tell you how excited I’m about getting to do my homework on the lovely beach over there! 🙂

Arriving in Costa Rica…school has started!

costaricaHola!

I arrived in Costa Rica without any problems at all on Saturday evening and slept for over 10 hours at the B&B in San Joaqiun de Flores. On Sunday I and the other students staying at the B&B did get to enjoy a very bumpy bus ride to Monteverde.

I was really excited to meet my host family and was very pleased when I met them and found out that they were really nice people. They didn’t speak a word of English so I got to practice my Spanish immediately! 🙂

On the way to Costa Rica: waiting at Schipol Airport!

Hello everyone!

I thought that I could write my first post (it’s actually the first blog post I’ve ever written) while I’m waiting for my flight to San Jose in Costa Rica. I must admit that I’m feeling quite excited and I’m really looking forward to getting to Costa Rica. I’m very curious about who I’ll be living with and who my co-students will be!

I started my trip yesterday when I took the train from my hometown Vaasa to the Finnish capital Helsinki. I went out on a couple of beers with some friends and did manage to catch two hours of sleep before it was time to take a taxi to the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport! 🙂
