More tales of Malaga!
When I first tried to find the Malaga school, I couldn’t find the road of the school on a map of the area. The reason was that I hadn’t been looking for a lovely little pedestrianised street, which is where you can find the school!
When I arrived the students were gathering outside the school buildings, chatting with their new friends before their classes started. I took some photos, but I had a little time before the school was expecting me, so I wandered down the road to the beach (literally no more than two minutes’ walk).
It was a lovely morning, with the sun still a little hazy and low in the sky. The Spanish seafront was still sleepy, with the seaside shops and bars not yet open, and I saw just one or two joggers, somebody walking their dog, and the silhouette of somebody sitting out on the rocks with a fishing rod cast into the sea.
I sat for a little while staring out to sea and listening to my mp3 player as the sun fought through the early morning haze, before heading back to the school.
I hadn’t realised previously that the Malaga Option One school uses three buildings – beautiful Mediterranean villas, situated side by side on the pedestrianised street. I entered one and introduced myself to the friendly young man on the reception. He showed me around the three buildings and then took me to see the student apartments. They were all within walking distance of the school, although I noticed that one or two students had preferred to rent a bicycle, which my guide explained was very cheap and easy to do. I liked one of the apartment blocks in particular – it was in a very quiet and evidently prosperous residential area. When we got back to the school I bought a toasted sandwich and some freshly squeezed orange juice from the food bar.
All in all, I had a brilliant time in Malaga and hope you do too!
