Discover El Teide and Puerto de la Cruz!

Sun, beaches and palm trees! Tenerife often is associated with a picture of a sandy beach crowded with tourists, well, I find this a shame because this little island holds many more secrets…I spent six months in Tenerife and in my opinion it is a really interesting destination due to the diversity of its landscapes alone: A combination of sea and mountains, sandy beaches, black sand and pebble beaches await you on your next adventure!

One of my favourite memories I have is the discovery of Teide National Park, a must place to visit when in Tenerife!

Go on an adventure to the highest peak in Spain, el Teide, at an altitude of 3718 metres, offering an incredible view of the landscape that surrounds you! Sport lovers, can set yourself the challenge of climbing to the top of the volcano. Splendid hikes are organized for the most brave and energetic who don’t mind walking for several hours.

If you don’t feel that fit or want to immerse yourself in the incredible scenery much quicker, you can easily access a nearby station by car and if you want to take the cable car to access the peak, a reservation is required, you can find all information you need on the following websites:

On my adventure up the mountain I adored the mix of colours throughout the landscape: we begin with arid vistas and warm oranges, then rising up towards the peak, we discovered snowy and green landscapes. I would advise that you plan your visit in the morning, the view is breathtaking! Nature lovers will be constantly and pleasantly surprised if you go to the national Park of Teide in Tenerife. When climbing you will want to swap your T-shirt and bathing suit for a sweater, it is a fair bit colder at the top. Also, don’t forget your trainers!

I can’t recommend this trip enough. Take a big breath of fresh air, this nature reserve in a little corner of the world is waiting for you!

Back closer to sea level, Puerto de la Cruz, located in the Orotava Valley, offers a great view of El Teide, is also a must place to visit and a top destination in the Canary Islands. If you are looking for tranquillity and culture, the town of Puerto de La Cruz is the best place to start!

The whole Orotava Valley and Puerto de la Cruz area is well-known for its beautiful landscapes, its beaches (including the famous Playa de Jardin, a black sand beach), its historic buildings, and the lovely Old Town. There are many colonial-style bars, charming shops and gardens. Families will love the beautiful Loro Parque, one of the biggest attractions of the Canary Islands where you can find a diverse range of animal and plant species.
