Start your journey at the impressive “Rathaus” – Hamburg’s townhall. This beautiful palace-like building has a total of 647 rooms – which some guide books say is more than Buckingham Palace in London. Since Hamburg is not only a city but also one of Germany’s 16 states both the local government and state parliament meet here.

A must-do for every Hamburg visitor is a boat tour in the harbour and the “Speicherstadt”. The old storage buildings give Hamburg a historic yet unique feeling while the busy and modern harbour connects Hamburg to rest of the world. The harbour dates back to the 12th century and is today Europe’s third largest port.

In contrast to city you will find plenty of nature within Hamburg. Take a stroll beside the city lakes “Innenalster” and “Aussenalster” or visit the species-rich zoo “Hagenbeck”, the deer park of Blankenese, west of the city, or the “Wildpark Schwarze Berge”.
