Chile today …Argentina next!

I have been at the Santiago school for five weeks now, and I absolutely love it! I know that my spanish has improved tremendously and I have so many opportunities to practice it. Immediately after arriving, I felt very welcomed by the teachers and staff. Everyone is so friendly here!!

I was a little nervous as to what my host family would be like, but I absolutely love them. I live with a woman and her 4 year old daughter. Everyday I can practice my spanish by talking with them. They live about 10 minutes walk to school which is perfect for me.

One of the best things about the school is the activities. Almost everyday there is something going on. Every Wednesday we go to salsa lessons… I think I’m getting pretty good! Usually there are weekend trips as well. My first weekend here I went horseback riding in the countryside and it was absolutely beautiful! Next week there is rafting and the week after is surfing!

There is always something really fun planned here. It’s also a really great way to meet people as well. I was nervous that I came here without knowing anyone, but the school makes it so easy to make friends very quickly!

I also think that Santiago is a great place to learn Spanish. It’s not overly touristic but there are always plenty of things to do. The museums and parks are incredible, and there is so much to see. On the weekends that I stay in the city I always know that there will be something fun going on.

I am thinking of switching schools for two weeks to go to Buenos Aires or the new school in Cusco. Both sound really fun and I can’t wait to see a new country!
