Try something different in Tenerife
I’m really looking forward to summer in the Canary Islands and the long sunny days and the warm nights! I love to spend my time on the beach (sunbathing, swimming and surfing during the day and going out at night), but after some weeks doing the same thing, it becomes repetitive and I feel like doing something else. I feel like doing something different, and guess what, in Tenerife there are lots of things to do in summer!
For example, you can go to one of the summer festivals. One of the best festivals you can experience is Eólica. This festival takes place in ITER (Instituto Tecnológico de Energías Renovables), which is located in Granadilla, in the south of Tenerife. It’s not very far from some of the best beaches in the island and from our school in Costa Adeje (just about half an hour by bus or car).
This event is not just a festival where you can see performances and dance – it is also a great place where you can learn more about our environment and climate change. It may sound boring, just the typical lectures where you have to be seated and listening to someone talking for too long, but it’s not!
You can try things like feel the power of a hurricane, discover what is a like to live in a bioclimatic house or drive a hydrogen car! And there are lots of workshops where you can create new things from old elements, it´s all about recycling! Of course, you can also go to the lectures and exhibitions, which I’ve found very interesting as I always want to know what else can I do to make life in this planet better for the next generation.
I guess by this time you are already interested, although I haven’t even talked about the concerts! There’s lots of real fun going on, with plays, dance, circus, shows, multimedia and lots of musical performances with international and resident DJs and bands.
If you want to see the line-up, you can do it here. You will find yourself dancing and having fun with thousands of people coming from everywhere in the Canary Islands, Spain (the mainland, I mean), and from everywhere in the world! It really is the most popular alternative festival in the Canaries during the summer, nothing compares to it, and each year gets bigger and bigger, attracting more and more people.
Well, have a good time, enjoy, dance and… don’t forget to be green!
