DELF/DALF exam preparation courses

Formally recognised by all French-speaking universities and many international organisations, the DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) and the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) are diplomas issued by the French Ministry of Education .

Based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, the DELF/DALF have 6 levels.

DELF A1 and A2: The student has a basic, ‘survival’ knowledge of French. A1 level usually requires 60 hours of teaching from beginner level. A2 level usually requires 160 teaching hours from beginner level.

DELF B1 and B2: The student has a good knowledge of French and is able to communicate both verbally and in writing on a wide range of subjects. B1 usually requires 310 teaching hours from beginner level. B2 usually requires 490 teaching hours from beginner level.

DALF C1 and C2: The student has fluent and spontaneous communication skills of the highest level. C1 level usually requires 690 teaching hours from beginner level. C2 level usually requires 890 teaching hours from beginner level.

At each level, all 4 skills (i.e. reading, writing, listening and speaking) will be tested and so it is a good idea to take a preparation course prior to your exam, in order to ensure that all 4 skills are up to the level required. It is often possible to take the exam whilst you are in the location in which you take your course (as several schools are exam centres or close to exam centres), although the exam can also be taken in your home country. Please note that the exam fee is not normally included in the course price.

We offer specific exam preparation courses at the following schools:
