Join a student excursion in Malaga!

If you’ve planned a course in Malaga, don’t miss out on the excursions run by the school. Malaga is in such a beautiful part of Spain, and the excursions are the best way of seeing it! Our coach left from the Malaga (Premium) school at 3pm, and Victor the guide sat at the front of the coach with the microphone making everybody laugh.

Our first stop was the Caves of Nerja, which Victor explained had been discovered by some children playing in the hills relatively recently. These are some of the most historic monuments of the world, with archeological remains dating back to the Paleolithic Age (about 20,000 years ago). I don’t often visit caves and they were really not how I had imagined – there were certainly no tight spaces, but rather vast open halls with stalagtites, stalagmites, and columns. For example, the grand centre column in the Sala del Cataclismo (Cataclysm Hall) reaches a height of 32 metres.

Arriving in Malaga for your Spanish course

I kept a diary during my Spanish courses in Malaga, and I had such a great time there that I thought I’d share my experiences with you!

I have travelled to Spain in the past but I had never been to Andalucia before. The excitement only hit on the way to the airport, but it was accompanied by a few nerves as this was the first time that I had really travelled alone. I think most students feel this the first time they go abroad on a language course, but don’t worry – you’ll be fine!

Taking it easy in Nerja, Spain

What I really like about Nerja that even during high season with the influx of both Spanish tourists and foreign visitors, the town manages to retain its friendly, relaxed atmosphere.  If you’re looking for Spanish charm and a place to relax, then Nerja is for you!

It seems to me that the residents of Nerja enjoy the best of both worlds, living amongst a mixture of modern buildings and traditional whitewashed stone shops and businesses. Typically for a tourist town, there are lots of interesting shops that line both sides of the long pebbled streets selling local produce ranging from ornate sculptures to handmade jewellery. There are also family-run restaurants selling platos del dia (an inexpensive lunchtime menu, usually consisting of 3 courses including a drink), pizza, freshly caught seafood and home made ice-cream (which I would definitely recommend – especially the limón flavour!).

Try something different in Tenerife

I’m really looking forward to summer in the Canary Islands and the long sunny days and the warm nights! I love to spend my time on the beach (sunbathing, swimming and surfing during the day and going out at night), but after some weeks doing the same thing, it becomes repetitive and I feel like doing something else. I feel like doing something different, and guess what, in Tenerife there are lots of things to do in summer!

Discover the magic of Isla Magica, Seville!

I had a great time during my spanish course in Seville, especially during the weekend my family came to visit me!

After the classes, the school always organised something so we could get to know the city and all the great things it has to offer!

It was March, but it was already extremely hot in Seville and my family, my parents and my grandparents decided to visit me for the weekend. They were quite impressed when they heard me speaking Spanish!

Exploring Barcelona during your Spanish course

I have been four times to Barcelona and I think I have seen a lot. Of course not everything, that’s quite impossible! Barcelona is such a big and interesting city that you perhaps don’t know where to start. But don’t worry, you will find your way easily! Let me give you a few suggestions…

I would suggest you start your sightseeing on Las Ramblas, the heart and touristic centre of Barcelona, which is just a few steps from the school. There are many pubs, restaurants and souvenir shops and you can admire the street entertainers and living statues as well. If you throw money in a box in front of them, they start moving and you can take a picture. Don’t miss to go to the Boqueria, a huge market hall where a great variety of fruits, vegetables, meat and fish, but also delicate confectionery is offered.

Salamanca: my Spanish course in the Golden City

Salamanca was exactly how I imagined it would be – and I immediately understood why they call it ‘The Golden City’

As the bus got nearer and nearer, I could see the sandstone buildings on the horizon glowing like gold when the sun shone on them.  What a sight!  In fact I was so impressed I had forgotten all about the rain clouds that had been following me all the way from Madrid.

Getting to Salamanca was actually really easy.  I had flown to Madrid and took a taxi from the airport to the bus station (Estacion de conde la casal, Auto Res).   From there I took a coach directly to Salamanca, which only cost about 24 Euros and took a little under 3 hours. Simple!

In Malaga and having the best time!!

Well, I’m studying in Malaga and having the best time!

I’m living in an amazing apartment with the best view ever over the sea. I’m sharing the apartment three girls, one from Holland, one from Norway and one from Sweden. They are all so sweet and my room mate the Norwegian is so funny. We spend most nights up talking or killing mosquitos, which she is getting scarily good at! Heehee!!

Going on a course in Alicante? Read this first!!

Vamos al Barrio esta noche?!

Do you want to learn Spanish and meet a lot of people from all over the world? Then you have to take a Spanish course in Alicante! The city is full of international students and it’s very easy to get to know to them, and not only in your language school. You only have to go out in the Barrio!

Of course there are many “barrios” but when you talk of THE Barrio then everybody knows what you mean. Although Alicante has about 320,000 inhabitants, it seems smaller because in the Barrio you always meet people you know.

Fiesta in Puerto de La Cruz, Tenerife!

I love Puerto de La Cruz…the landscape, the beaches, the history, the culture, the people, the festivals…and of course the nightlife! El Puerto, as we, the chicharreros, or people from Tenerife call it, is one of the best places to visit and to go out in Tenerife. There are lot of different places to party and things to do, so you’re certain to have a really great night!

El Puerto de La Cruz is located in the beautiful La Orotava Valley, which has one of the best views of El Teide, the volcano on the north of the island of Tenerife. It’s very famous for tourism, but at the same time retains its Canarian culture!
