Spanish and surfing in Tenerife

Having worked at Apple Language Courses for over 10 years, I am more than a little embarrassed to say that my knowledge of the Spanish language is fairly limited!

Like many of our students, I studied Spanish at school (a few more years ago than I like to think!) and have taken evening classes since then, but other than that my language practice has been limited to holidays in Spain and my skills are rather rusty.

Today, I am very excited to say that I have just booked my first Spanish course, and will be enjoying some winter sun, studying at our school in Costa Adeje in November! I’m not only taking language lessons at the school, but will be braving the waves with the afternoon surf course. I’ve only tried surfing once before on holiday in Wales and loved it, but really hope the sea will be warmer in Tenerife!

Having already received confirmation of my place on course by email, I’ve now booked flights and am arriving into Tenerife the day before the start of the course, which will give me time to settle before lessons begin.

On this occasion, I’ve decided to arrange my own accommodation, but the school can arrange for you to stay with a Spanish host family, accommodation that offers good value for money and plenty of opportunity to practice speaking Spanish.

There are just nine weeks to go before the start of my course and I’m sure the time will fly by. The school in Costa Adeje will provide course materials during lessons, but I’ve already ordered a Spanish dictionary and a verb book to take with me, which I hope will give me confidence to speak in Spanish outside the classroom.

I’ll keep you updated about my preparations as the weeks go by and look forward to letting you know about my progress.
