Wine and Spanish in Mendoza!

As part of my attempt to learn Spanish, I decided to come to Mendoza, Argentina, in order to have some classes and learn more about Argentinean people and their culture. Getting in contact with the people whose mother tongue is the language you are learning is something I consider to be of high importance since you see how things work in practice and become more sensitive to their way of living.

The Spanish School in Mendoza, where I’m studying is very good in putting language and culture together and as part of our culture enrichment programme, we were taken to Bodega Escorihuela to learn something about the culture and production of wine, which happens to be the most important industry in the region, exporting wine all throughout the year countries all over the world.

Buenos Aires, Argentina where I’ve chosen to learn Spanish.

I arrived in Buenos Aires a week ago and started my Spanish course. I’m really happy with the home the school has chosen for me. All the people in the school are very friendly and kind. We had a great time, especially when we played football and visited the River Plate court field and the Chinese neighborhood. I’ve also eaten a lot of empanadas and bifes de chorizo in different restaurants!

A Sunday in Recoleta – Buenos Aires, Argentina

Recoleta, where our Spanish Language School is located, is one of the most popular and premiere neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, capital city of Argentina. Recoleta is a fantastic area that becomes the greatest on weekends. It is a must for all tourists, and foreigners are very welcome; however, it is still undoubtedly an excellent place to meet locals while they enjoy the most important activities of their lives: drinking “mate” and dancing tango.

The whole area is surrounded by beautiful parks, all kind of shops (which have excellent prices), numerous restaurants and cafes, the cemetery and church in the middle next to the fine art museums and other cultural centers with varied programs.

A day out in La Falda, Cordoba, Argentina

Last Monday, my roommates and I had the opportunity to spend the holiday in honour of San Martin in La Falda, a little town in the Sierras of Cordoba and very close to the capital city, around 80 kilometres.

Encircled by mountains, this town offers plenty of opportunities and a lot of things to enjoy and explore nature. La Falda has inspiring mountain scenery. The region shows an irregular land full of hills and has a wonderful microclimate, ideal for outdoor activities.
