This Northern city became world-famous thanks to its major part in the Industrial Revolution. The 18th century saw Liverpool’s population explode as people flocked to the city to work, and the 19th century cemented its place as one of the world’s most important ports. In the 20th century Liverpool set the scene to become the capital of pop, while the 21st century saw it finally honoured as a European Capital of Culture.

Connected in Cuba

So you want to go to Cuba, but you’re worried about the internet connection there? If you need to know how to get connected in Cuba then this post is for you!

Recently a student contacted us specifically to express concern about the lack of Internet access in Cuba.

Although Internet access isn’t as available in Cuba as it is here in Europe, it is getting better. You will find more and more WiFi hotspots throughout the major Cuban cities and towns.

Surviving Greek Week

Greek – or, for that matter, any language with a different ethnography – is notoriously difficult for speakers whose native or most-commonly-used language utilises the Latin alphabet (for those who aren’t familiar: that’s your ABCs, as opposed to your АБВs).

Kiev – the mother of Russian cities

What if you could learn a language that spoken is by the same amount of native people as French (75.9 million) and German (78.1 million) combined?

This language is spoken from the western borders of Kalinigrad to the far eastern borders of Vladivostok and has over 166 million native speakers! Moreover, if you add the 100 million non-native speakers, this beautiful language – Russian – is spoken by over 250 million people worldwide!

Just a week after his partner-in-crime Jo Franco visits Athens, Shut Up and Go travel-blogger Damon Dominique will be heading to another of Europe’s capital cities – Vienna – to sample some art and culture and develop his knowledge of the German language. Dubbed both the City of Music and the City of Dreams, Vienna has held the top spot for ‘most liveable city’ on Mercer’s Quality of Living survey for 9 years running!

Leaving the beach at Viareggio to explore Pietrasanta

If you plan to visit Viareggio this summer, and fancy a change from the beach, I would definitely recommend that you make time to visit the nearby town of Pietrasanta. The Italian province of Lucca seems to have it all: Rolling Tuscan hills, beautiful beaches on an incredible coast line, where you’ll also find the carnival town of Viareggio (home to our beautiful Italian language school) and last but not least, Pietrasanta, with its pristine medieval buildings, and fascinating art history.
