I would certainly consider this city to be the jewel of the Andes – it is a treasure that everybody should visit at least once in their lifetime! Cusco has so much to offer: its enchanting art and architecture, the many interesting museums, the nice bars and restaurants, and the beautiful landscapes around the city.

Shut Up and Go with Apple Languages!

Many of you may already know that we have recently teamed up again with our good friends at Shut Up and Go – this time we’re providing an incredible two weeks of *free* language tuition in France or Spain to the lucky winner!

WHO?

Shut Up and Go was first set up by the itchy-footed duo that is Jo Franco and Damon Dominique over 10 years ago, as a way to share their experiences. Originating with Youtube videos documenting their travels, the pair now have over a million followers across various social media platforms. They’ve also grown the partnership. Now a core team of 4 with over 20 regular contributors, Shut Up and Go provides advice and guidance on what not to miss on your own journey, how to make the most out of your time in any of the hundreds of locations the team have visited, and even about learning new languages. Their Spunky Word of the Day is similar to our own Weird Word Wednesdays, giving viewers the opportunity to learn vocabulary as they browse.

Do you want to visit a location that offers sunshine, crystal blue seas, and stunning sandy beaches? Perhaps one that offers a vibrant, unique culture? Russian Language Day

Today, the 6th June, is the UN’s Russian Language Day! This day was created in 2010 by UNESCO to celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity within the United Nations’ member states.

The UN Language Days serve to promote the equal use of all six official languages.

We mentioned French language day in a previous post from March, but the special focus today is on the Russian language!

Did you know that March 20th is the United Nations’ ‘French Language Day’? It has been recognised on March 20th every year since 2010 and celebrates multilingualism and cultural diversity.

To celebrate, here are some interesting facts about the French Language:

French is one of the United Nations’ official languages. The other five official languages of the United Nations are Arabic, Chinese, English, Russian and Spanish.

Portsmouth – the UK island’s island city

Portsmouth is an island port city situated on Portsea Island in the county of Hampshire, England. Confused? Luckily we have included a picture. The city’s rich history has been influenced by its association with the sea and its proximity to London and mainland Europe. The Romans were the first to appreciate the sheltered natural harbour at Portsmouth – they used it as a strategic base when fighting pirates in the English Channel. As you might already know, it later became the home of the Royal Navy.

Adventures in Antigua

This summer I will be travelling to Antigua, Guatemala, where I will be following a Spanish course at our language school.

History

Antigua, south of the country’s capital Guatemala City, sits at an altitude of 1,533 metres. This beautiful city was capital of the Spanish captaincy of Antigua Guatemala, was once the most important seat of the Iberian government between Mexico City and Lima, Peru.

New school in Valencia

As you may have seen from some of our social media posts, our Spanish school in Valencia has moved!

Now situated in a gorgeous building in Valencia’s Casco Antiguo, the school – one of our most popular destinations for adults and juniors alike – couldn’t miss the opportunity to celebrate all its hard work. Staff invited agents and teachers from across the world to come and see the new building, take some pictures, and share anecdotes over some delicious Mediterranean food.

Liverpool
